Pseudo NT option?

Just the opposite of a hidden NT - neck-like wood stripe in the center of a BO body. Just like Streamettes had.
Is this possible?
 
I wanted a Thumb to match my Streamette and they told me no.
 
I once saw a Corvette bo with painted stripes to make it look like a NT.

tone blocks are overrated. I have played many basses that have tone blocks in them, and unless the block is exposed to the air, I really never heard a difference. Stingrays have been using them for years, and most stingrays (tone block and non-tone block) sound the same, heh
 
It is strange that you say that, because I owned a couple of stingrays (non tone block) with similar specs and they were very different sounding. I've seens SR5 sounding from P sounds with a lot of nasal mids to tight thumb bass sound. I don't know why is this inconsistency.
 
The problem with Musicman is that they're quite blurry with their wood selection. They say "selected hardwoods". Hmmmm ok, nice. It's the opposite of Warwick's policy.

it's 100% of the time heavy ash.

Sorry I meant that you couldnt really tell the difference between tone block and non-tone block. But yes, the sound from Stingray is very inconsistent. The overall weight of the Stingray bass is inconsistent as well. If you look at the EBMM forums, people love, just LOVE, to talk about how much their bass weighs. Inevitably, people start drooling like a bunch of dogs when someone has a light stingray. Buncha weirdos!
 
and light weight is good sometimes people pay extra for lighter bodys.when i was reading about walnut for a body some people said the lighter bodies sounded better and then they went into a whole page of why.i have found my ear is not that good and when then band is cranking no one is going to be able to tell.only me and my back.
 
If I understand correctly it is a piece of tonewood like mahagony inlayed in the middle of the body or something.

I have never seen a EBMM that wasn't made of ash.

hell, they all pretty heavy basses and poplar and alder are quite light. Do they use alder and poplar on solid finished Stingray and sterling?

EDIT: Just did a small research and apparently on the EBMM forums, 90%+ of the times it is ash, but poplar, alder, basswood were also used on bodies on rare occasions.
 
About the pseudo NT thing, I wonder if somebody could order a custom 3 piece body with a different center wood, just the right width. It should be possible.

I think the extra weight comes from adding a bit of the ego of Sterling ball, hahahahahahahahahah. Yes, I went there (recovering EBMM player here!)
