It lists the upcharge for a discontinued model in the pricing list, but it doesn't give a base price for the instrument itself. How do you figure that out?

Hey man,

It will be in the Corvette STD bubinga area....

I wanted to order a Flashback for my self. They still have some bodies and pickups left ;-)

Cheers mate, Flo

Hey Florin,
I just wonder if it would be possible to get a discontinued model if they have no bodies etc. left? So if they run out of Fortress-bodies (or if I'd order a lefty-Fortress and they don't have lefty-bodies) it's no longer possible to get a CS Fortress?

Thrym : Fortress is still available in the CS shop option. they do not have it as a standard model now but is still ok for CS.

I hope Warwick during the NAMM announces a Fortress as an LTD for 2009!

Okay.
However, when I read Florin's answer, it sounds as if you can get a Fortress through the CS only as long as Warwick has Fortress bodies left. Is that true or have I just misinterpreted his answer?

Yes you did. he is talking about the Fortress Flashback which has a modified Fortress Body due to the bridge having to string the strings from the back of the body.

Fortress is still available at the CS. He was just making the comment he was thinking of ordering a Fortress Flashbacks since Warwick still has some parts for them in stock (a rare version of Fortress. there is one for sale now on the for sale section. see the pics.)

see here:

Oh, alright, thanks trujo, I understand.

Since I like the Fortress shape so much... I could imagine getting one!

I got a Fortress one and that upper horn really balances the bass nicely. they are awesome basses. too bad they are discontinued. hopefuly one of these years we'll get a LTD Fortess sometime.

The Fortress One was my first Warwick and I still have it. I will probably never sell or trade it. yes it IS THAT GOOD!!

I love my fortress one, got it really cheap after Christmas (can I use that word here?) last year. Mine's interesting, it's a Fortress 1 but appears to have a flame maple body. I believe the 1's usually had an ash body. Mine sure don't look like ash.

Maybe I am wrong but according to this page:

on the upper portion of the page says that the Fortress have Ash bodies wih the exception of the Flashback. Then when one goes through the specs fortress model each one by one you can see that the Fortress One and the Masterman both say they have a maple body and the only one with ash is the flashbacks according to individual specs.

I also see my Fortress One as having made of maple since has some flaming to it front and back.

Also on this Old flyer says that the body is made of Swamp Maple.
see pics (download the pic and once saved on your computer you can zoom in to see the letter a little clearer)

Fortress One and Masterman are maple. Fortress R&B as well as Flashback are Ash.

 just quoting myself

I dont think they'll bring it back. Many people want them but nobody wants to pay the price. Dominant had a truckload of new Fortresses built a couple years back and theyre still trying to unload them. Dont get me wrong, I love the Fortress and had 3 of them but I feel like the newer models have pretty much made them obsolete.

I think they have 1 left.

+1 on that I also heard there was onl 1 left so.... if they sold that many... they might noe be THAT obsolete

I think Warwick needs to develop an instrument with an elegant slim line and a LONG upper horn, to replace the Fortress.

What I mean by obsolete is that the Fortress was their cheaper line which has now been replaced by the Corvette line and with the huge amount of Corvette variations available what would be the point of having Fortresses? I said truckload but I think it was only 15 or so that were built for Dominant wasnt it? 2 years to move them isnt exactly flying off the shelves. How many here jumped on them when it was announced that they were available? You would think that forum members would have snatched them all if there were that few. I wanted one but when they told me $2500 I said screw it and went out and bought 3 good used ones for less money. I'm betting others did the same. Resale on Fortresses is crap so why throw money away. Maybe I'm wrong but I just dont see it happening.

when did the Corvettes come out? I thought they were available when the Fortresses were out as well. maybe I am wrong based upon what your posts says. I dig more my Fortress in sound, tone versatility and also active -passive circuitry it has (not like Vettes that have an all passive option too). Also the flamed maple wood for the body is actually a little higher than the regular ash vettes (reason for the Proline to exist to be higher end than the ash ones).

I would choose my Fortress over any Vette STD anyday.

I believe youre right about them existing at the same time but as the Corvette line expanded the fortress was dropped. At least thats what I remember from previous discussions. However, since I'm almost 50 I'm willing to admit that my memory may not be worth a shit and I've got it all screwed up :(
