Played A Warwick For The First Time Today!

Hey Guys, Today I played a Warwick for the first time ever and I loved it!

I went down to Matchetts Music which is a nice little music shop in Belfast. I went down to the Basses and I saw in front of me two warwicks, A Streamer Lx 4 and A Thumb BO. I tried out the Thumb BO and the Deep Growly punchy sound I got out of it was absolutley fantastic! :)

I compared it to an American Standard Fender Precision Bass which I also played in the shop and It sounded great and all too but nothing compared to the Thumb BO. It has made me want to get a warwick for definite but I just don't have the money. :(

So I thought I would post this to you guys to tell you about my first Warwick experience and what you think.
 
I think you should start saving money because nothing else will satisfy your bass lust until you get a Warwick.

Years ago, I tried various Warwicks and knew I wanted one/some. I bought a couple of other basses because they were cheaper. In the long run I ended up spending more cash because I settled.
 
You can always get a used one, they are a lot cheaper than the new ones :)

Welcome Matty, and good luck with the hunt. Keep scanning eBay - there are some amazing second hand Warwick bargains to be had.

I've been dreaming on getting a warwick since I was 15 too. I heard Mudvayne and I just started playing bass and LOVED the tone of the thumb bass. Couldn't try one until I was 17 (no store had them back then). When I got the chance, it only fueled my desire to get one. FINALLY, after 4 years dreaming about it (and about 2 years drooling on this forum), at 19 years old, I've been able to buy a my very own thumb BO 5 strings.

I love the bass dearly, and even though I had the opportunity to try basses in the 10 000$ + price range (Fodera's and Alembic's series II), my thumb is still, BY FAR, my favorite bass. Waiting for it will make a better love story between you and your bass ;).

save up dood. My first wick was probably the second thing over a grand i bought in my life (after a crappy car that i actually paid less for) that was some time ago and is till love it.
 
I know the feeling!!
I found mine last year in May and I only played two notes and said it's mine. There's something about Warwick...
I didn't know how to play much at all, it was just magic when I held my Corvette.

I like some weight and substance to the beast, and the sound.....omg.......

I still suck but that's ok hahaah!!
 
My dad bought my my first Warwick too, so it is possible :-)

Nice, now you´re 15 pounds closer to your dream bass. :)
On the other hand, you could get a nice Rockbass until you have a job and enough money for a real W.

Do you have bottle recycling system in your country ?

I started saving money for warwick at age 15 too and got my first wick before 17, thanks to the bottle recycling system. It's a hard work but if you have time to collect bottles around the city and taking them to recycle points, I recommend it.

It's hard to find any real job at your age so it's good to find an alternative way of getting money

You're only 15? Well, that's fantastic. Cos most of us only have a Granny to sell, whereas you maybe have a Great Granny too! They're worth more cos they're vintage, and rarer!

Alternatively, take your Dad in to the shop, play him a Squier and then the Warwick and ask for a contribution :d
 
I think the bottle idea is great.

I think I'll save for my Fender P American Deluxe Special super uber duper bass that way...cos yeah I wanna Fender, it helps support a local company. Too bad they won't let me pick it up right out of the factory ...that would be awesome...or see it being built...that would rule
