Pearloid? ( i know i will get looks for that question)

Okay first off>: i dont want to turn that one in a discuission about ethics, i have got my reasons for that uestion.

So my question is if it is possible to get pearloid in the custom shop and if it looks similar or equal to mother of pearl.

now the reason why i am asking this is because i am a vegetarian and i try to avoid as many animal products as possible. i kow that many of you will think "what an idiot" or something like that but i think it is in the interest of every member if we just keep the board as clean as possible :).

That's your choice, but I would never have associated vegetarism and mother of pearl inlays :shock:
 
well i understand that i mean most people dont suck their inlays out of their neck :D :D
 
Vegetarianism is not only about not eating animals, it is about not damaging animals in any way (eating them the most usual)

So using pearloid instead mother of pearl is a way of avoiding that I suposse.
 
I might be a bit off-topic, but as fas as i'm concerned, I eat meat, but I'm against fur and mistreated animals... I can't stand to see an animal suffering... But yeah, I eat meat...

perfectly reasonable request in my opinion, Im no vegetarian though but my brother was a vegan and I can understand your views on animal welfare. I cant answer your question though lol....

okay i tried to avoid that, but hey i will answer that question:
why not? fr me both are animals, both are living creatures, so yeah, and even if they are different categories i barely find it necessary to have an oister in my bass, because the warwick bass would sound gorgeous, no matter if it has mother of pearl or pearloid or no inlays. so i would damaga an animal, no matter in which category this oyster is.
 
I think tht bass guitars look better with no front inlays at all, then u could go for some LED top inlays, and your sorted for no meat in your bass.

And if we're gunna kick up a fuss about what goes into bass guitars, arnt we all a bit hasty in choosing exotic, rare woods.

Only Mother Of Pearl and Abalone are available for inlays on Warwick basses and Framus guitars. Thought I'd add the Framus guitar part because they're made at the Warwick factoy following similar standards.
 
Just out of curiosity, don't many animals die from their homes, i.e. trees, beeing cut down and used for different purposes, such as basses? Maybe some species of wood are home to fewer (and less endangered) animals?
 
Im not hundred percent sure but as far as i know Basss and Guiyar Manufactors have to plant their own exotic woods. so theyd probably control that.
 
I'm sure that Warwick only uses wood from specil plantations, but it must certainly be impossible to safeguard against some animals dying etc. But basically everything a person does, more or less, damages the environment and has negative effects on other species of life. It's practically impossible not to!
 
We buy the wood from trusted suppliers. They deliver the wood to us already cut in big slabs.

All other animals have the knack of not ruining the environment... :wink:
 
We all have Warwick in common,we can't agree on everything.Opinions are great things to have but we must remember,every one of us has one & should respect the opinions of others,we can only learn from them.
