Thumb Bolt-on 4 string - 32" scale, 24 frets
Ovangkol Neck
Wenge Fingerboard
Mahogany/Purpleheart body
Stock 2 way Electronics and J Pickups
5 string pickup position
Black Hardware

I'm still negotiating the final price with my dealer, but I brought my Dirty Blonde back in for the down payment. I really like the mahogany back and after enough research, I am willing to take a chance on the purpleheart top. I was told 6-8 weeks... I don't know what I will do in the meantime. Either way, I'm extremely excited.

Congrats! That should be an awesome bass!! :P Now for the dreaded waiting... ~M~

cant wait for the pics. :D that'll be a superb bass. congrats

I will look forward to seeing this beauty when it arrives. 8)

Cheers,
Rachel

I think it will suit what I'm looking for.. or listening for. I saw one of the thumbs in the gallery with the 5 string position and thought it a good idea. Especially because I'm getting the shorter scale and I play in dropped tunings at times. It will still let the lower tones come through. I know I'm sacrificing the more open sound of the neck pick up but that is fine with me as I always cut back halfway on the neck, anyway.
It's only been 12 hours and the wait is already unbearable. I will post pics as soon as I get the beast.

shorter scale + down tuning = really fucking floppy strings

Hope you'll get some strong gauges unless you're feeling very comfortable with floppy strings. I know that with time you get used to it and when you play then with a standard tuning you find the strings being very stiff. But anyways...

yea, i know the floppy thing.. I play mostly standard, but occasionally drop the e to do. I played a 32" to make sure I liked the tone and feel. I love it, and it feels so much better to me than 34"

I reckon a mahogany body with a purpleheart top would sound awesome, dont ask me why.Maybe it's coz Victor Wooten plays a fretless with that body. :P

I'm buggered if I know mate, but I'll try & hook you up somehow.
