Well there you have it.....similar opinions and some real good points but no real answer to the low resale value of these expensive Warwick basses. Why then is there such high resale for a Ken Smith, Alembic, Fodera, and even most Sadowsky basses that are quickly purchased? I believe the afore mentioned instruments have a signiture series except for Warwick (the exception of the almost impossible to fine Jack Bruce one). Its really hard to find a Warwick being played out live, on TV shows where you can see the band, and even the top selling national bands. In my local scene I am out and about visiting lots of clubs and know lots of fine musicians and I'm telling you nobody is using Warwick anything. Even I dont use my Thumb NT5 out live, I use the Spectors.........pause......and the reason is the Wick just doesnt sound good live to me. However it does sound wonderful recording where the Spector takes a 2nd place.
Oh, and my Corvette???? just sold it for less than half of what I paid for it 10 months ago. Looking for a Thumb? Visit the Offering section.....I'll hang on the the Streamer just in case. Great replys gentlemen.....

and i thank you for that low price! It's paid now incase you didn't get the emails. I'm confused as to what you mean when you say warwicks don't sound good live. From my experience with my rockbass and from things i hear from everyone else, i thought 'wicks cut through the mix more than most basses out there because of the growl and those beautiful mids.

different people want different things live. not everyone want a really cutting middy sound...

Amen to that. I wanted a sound that was thick enough that the guitarist(s) would have to find a way to cut through my sound, not the other way around.

To me it just makes sense. When I used a Thumb, sure the low-mids cut through, but the lows were still lost under the guitar.

Don't take it the wrong way though, it's just my opinion, and I'm still a HUGE fan of the Thumb. It's just that I already had 2 strong low-midrange basses with the Wals. The $$ (NT in particular) gave me something that the Wals and Thumb didn't.

I totally dig it: there is indeed a price you pay for playing the Thumb. The whole concept is in indeed the extraordinary midrange.............Especially with the 5 string Thumbs, the bass is a bit thin.............

amen to that...i had to cut through an ibanez 7 strings (and a jackson 7 wolbers signature) through a Crate Blue Voodoo 120w tube head, and the $$ is the way to go

Dont for get the Flea bass, the Geddy Lee Fender, Stanley Clarke Sig, Victor Wooten sig, etc.
XxBassPlayerxX just got the deal of his life with the Corvette, flight case, and a JAN3 for under $700. Like I said, to me the Thumb didnt sound good live, the Vette has a slightly different tambre. Its a very heavy weighted bass and is for younger stronger backs.......and he will like the rock sound if he remembers to EQ his amp first with the B/T on the Vette flat then deal with the bass preamp controls. Dont forget, none of us are stuck with the MEC's that come standard. EMG's, Barts, and Seymores can be installed to give the bass more options for 'that sound' youre looking for.
