Old thumb vs newer thumb 5 nt?

Ive played a 99 thumb 5 nt with wenge and bubinga neck and a 2005 nt thumb 5 with ovangkol ebony... Only problem is i played them months apart and not side by side.. They both sound awesome just dont really know the tonal differences which must be subtle.. and i would love to hear then side by side though an amp or recording with exact settings and both with newish strings anybody have both basses to do a comparison? I wanna buy one and im willing to spend some money.. Id rather buy new and fresh though what are your inputs as i cant play or try any out anymore and i forget what there like.

I think in the mix they sound 90% the same... The pickup position, bubinga body, NT construction, etc, beats the differences - Ovankol vs Wenge neck, and Ebony vs Wenge fb

So IMHO, the difference is in a certain feeling you have when you play the bass, and no sound clip can tell this for you.
I think you better close your eyes, and think at both of them. You will feel your heart beating faster when you think at one of them. Buy that one :-)
 
there is a slight difference in the pitch but they are veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery similar:-)
 
Damn i wanna hear those clips, i cant becuase my iphone wont support the file ill have to try a pc or sumthing, thanks for your input and response and the time takin out to help me out
 
I'm going to wager the second clip is the ebony fb board Thumb.

The difference is VERY subtle. Only way I can explain it is that I've spent enough time with an NT and BO to be able to hear that difference but then again I think the difference is so subtle that I'd bet you'd never tell the difference live or in a band situation, only in isolated listening conditions. That said, listening to both clips, once I heard the second one, ebony popped in my head immediately.
 
THanks for your help and sound clipis Morgoth, i really cant tell a difference which is awesome! i prefer the newer warwick thumb looks.. so i will get a 2012! cant Wait!
 
To my ears the one with the ebony fb sounds a little warmer...
 
i noticed a slight "low mid" bump with the first clip compared to the second clip, lovin both.
