Oil finish worn off

Hi, new to the forum but a proud warwick owner for about 6 years...

The question:
I have a Corvette Standard 6 String that has about 10 years of use, natural oil finish. And as one would expect, the oil finish has started to wear off of the place right over the pickup where I place my thumb to play. I know many people like this in their basses, as I've read here people say it gives the bass some character... However, I'm not really happy with it, since it's mostly greyish kinda green and I think doesn't go well with the otherwise beautiful finish.
I've already tried sanding down just a little and applying warwick wax, this does the trick for about an hour long show, afterwards it's back to that greyish green spot.
So does anyone know how to get rid of it?

welcome to the forum anyway, and i hope you get it sorted, i have a similar problem but on a much larger scale!!! see the thread above, i feel your pain ;)

yeah i had a bash, it did work somewhat, i could probably do a better job if i put more effort/time in, but for half an hour i probably got half the muck out, it does look better... but it's still obvious enough. i can post a pic if you like?

Tell me about it, i bought mine the other day used... if it had been properly maintained, it could have been avoided. I guess some people like seeing ingrained sweat and dead skin cells all over their basses. I don't, particularly when it's not mine.
