I need new strings. I've had the same elixirs on for years... People are noticing.

Something punchy that has definition and speaks clearly. I play jazz a great bit. No boom.

And perhaps a set that fits easily on my 'Vette. Sometimes, it's not so easy restringing...

What do you suggest????
 
I suggest EMP's,they're very long lasting & would be great for jazz imo.
 
Greg... I've had some trouble fitting strings bigger than .125 on my Thumb... I think i read somewhere that warwick strings were different and wouldn't trouble me. If that's the case I'll buy meself some EMP.... but just wanna check before I start spending.... Can anyone confirm this?
 
Well I use Elixirs too, and I am very happy vith'em. Black Labels are not a bad option at all. I will try soon EMP coated to compare them with Elixirs.

You wont have any trouble fitting any Warwick strings to your bass coz they're all tapered & will fit the tail piece.Alternatlively you can get a wider tail piece that accomodates most non tapered strings or file your exsisting tail piece or crimp the B string if you buy non tapered strings.
 
EMP's...................

ahhhhhhh, I got two sets waiting for me..............45-135............ I just need the bass first to have them installed. :D
 
I really like d.r.'s, Right now I'm using the longscale strings, But I think I like the fatbeams better. I should put those back on.

Elixirs exist with a taperwound low B... :wink: Fits on Warwick bridges perfectly !
 
Elixir set part number: 14304 if my records are correct.

Actually, Elixir E strings don't fit :-)

Since when? Are you referring to the 105's or 100's? I haven't had any trouble with them when I use them, but I get the 100s'... ~M~
 
Hmmm... It fits actually. It's hard tu put it thru the tail piece, but it's doable. I did it on my Corvette.

I must admit it looks weird:





Look at the E string. It seems like it's not put entirely in it's "niche", but it works fine.

The solution might be to use a plier in order to slightly reduce the diameter of the string.
 
Ironically, the only strings I`ve had a problem with has been Warwick Black Label. Might`ve been a right-handed tail-piece for a lefty bass, I don`t know. I had to file the gap to get it in. Elixir`s fit without hazzle.
 
Hmmmmm,

another string thread...............maybe there ought to be like a list on the Warwick website, saying which strings will and will not fit on Warwick basses............ :roll:
 
I would stringly suggest Fodera Victor Wooten Signatures. They are incredible. They have balenced tone, smooth feeling, and have the most uniform tension ive ever seen/felt. I would strongly recommend them, and they fit Warwick bridges perfectly.

Strings are all subjest to opinion but if your Elixers have lasted for years why change brands at all? ...
 
i can vouch for EMPs, great strings :D still on my first set and they're still sounding great
 
Do the EMP have the same "harsh", barbwire-like than the Black Label ?

you should see the GHS .136 B string on my Thumb....I needed to use some serious force o crimp that beast!
