Guys who try to make an argument on which bass is "better" than other basses usually as a rule can't play bass. Sure they usually know a few good licks but can not hold a groove for one full minute without losing time. Also, as a rule they are teens who do not buy their own instruments.

wtf man?

here you go, a teen, who paid his warwick, and he holds a very nice groove for one FULL MINUTE.

He is the one exception. If I closed my eyes and heard Nojja say the things he posts, I could not distinguish him from a snotty teen at Guitar Center whose mom is waiting impatiently at the door. He has decent chops so I would he let his music do the talking. Wasn't it in June that he was asking what a $$ 'vette was? And if he should even buy a 'wick? Now he is an authority and can dictate what basses are better than others? Besides, I know some guys who play Squier Fenders or Ibbys who can eat his lunch! :P

it isn't me. I wish I had a dolphin like this. I'm 19 and this guy is like 17. Been very active on the forum helped me to gather a lot of info on warwicks. And I tried a lot of them in the shops. I'm starting to know a bit about warwicks now. And there are guys with Squiers and Ibbys ? that are far better than this kid or me (just search classical thumb on youtube and you'll be amazed with the number of kids who are playing this song no problem), but the fact is that you said a teen couldn't hold a groove or play the bass the way it should be played. And now you're saying this kid can hold a groove/play properly and that there are better young players than him. Doesn't make sense much.

I say not to be so harsh on him, it is nothing wrong to be a teenager (God I wish I was a stupid teenager again!)
Ad it is nothing wrong not to have experience in playing bass, that's what they do when they are teenagers, they learn. And the guy has the right to have his opinion too.
He still has to learn how to put it in a polite way, and to respect other opinions, but we suppose to be the grown up here, so let's prove it, and teach him in a gentle way. I am sure he learned his lesson anyway. This forum is his home too, and we are still his Warwick family .

This is actually a very good topic I am sure many bassists have this question in their mind.
And no offtopics please, it took me 1 hour to clean this thread...

Aww....Flo! I nominate the old uncleaned version of this thread for some kind of award for awesomeness! :P

A poolitzer prize?

(streamers are better than thumbs)

Nojja, please define what "better" means in your world.

Here's one argument why BOs are better than NTs. If you screw up the neck on a NT the bass i basically ruined. You can change the neck on a BO.

I am tired of hearing everyone say when given the question "Which bass is best? This BO or NT?" Everyone allways says "Uh, they are both good, they are just made differently"

How come all the famous Warwick players play with high end instruments, how come Ryan Martinie doesnt play with a BO instead then?

A NT is better than a BO, a Corvette Pro Line is better than a regular Corvette with passive electronics. I think when you cross the line of 20 000 Euro things starts to look different though. And ofcourse you cant compare a Thumb NT with a Infinity NT, the sound you can but not which one is the best bass. Because they are both at the top of craftmanship and its just the sound that differs but both basses are better than Thumb BO.

A Corvette BO Passive Mics and Thumb NT you can discuss which bass is the best, its the Thumb NT, end of story.

Ofcourse as a rich artist you would wanna buy that bass you dreamed of owning as a kid but still i think a NT is better than a BO, in the same meaning as a real fender is better than a squier.

What a load of rubbish......

I don't think a thumb NT is the best at all. If I were given one, I would sell it and buy a passive Corvette.

All of the Warwicks have excellent quality and workmanship. It's all about what you like, and the sound you're after...

I think you can fairly say that a German Warwick is better than a Rockbass, but not that one German Warwick is necessarily better than another. Whoever posted the Fender/Squier analogy should consider this. Rockbass is to Warwick what Squier is to Fender.

Saying a Thumb is better than a Corvette for example is like saying an American P-bass is better than an American Jazz bass. Neither one is better - they're just different.

Nojja, that's very ignorant.
My basic ash corvette with passive mics sound faar better than any jazzbass you can pick up. I even tried some really really expensive bass and when I got back to my Corvette I seemed to dig the tone even more.
Just because it costs more (Talking about models, not brands) doesn't mean it's better, that's a snobby snot nose attitude that really doesn't belong here.

Edit: Oh yea, I'm 15 and I paid for my corvette myself. And I say I can hold a groove.

Well said! I started playing at 15. If I had had the internet back then and was treated like crap for being naive, it might have turned me off from bass playing. The guy posted something stupid, it happens. Let's give him a break.

If you read the page 3 of the thread, you can see that he changed a little bit his mind.

and he did adjust his statement and thinking after his first post, so he's not entirely closed to discussion...

Joekickass is from Taiwan... maybe english isn't his first language. In which case he doesn't do too bad!

+1 ;)

Many non-native English speakers do very well on forums. Maybe their grammar isn't prefect, but it's often much better than some native English speaking MSN style posters!

;)

I'm currently working in China, and many of the Chinese people here apologise to me for their "poor" English (often I think it's quite good).

I say that they shouldn't be sorry - their English is very good. It's MUCH better than my Chinese (which is awful!).

I'd like to apologize for my previous post in this thread (which obviously got removed), but I just found this thread hilarious in it's own, and I was in the mood for joking around.

To get back on topic, I can't add anything new to the argument in this topic, but I'll tell you one thing. From experience (12 years now) I can say that neither is better than the other, just different. I've played NT that I liked/didn't like, the same goes for BO. Currently, I own two basses, both bolt-on. I have owned a NT bass, a Peavey Cirrus 5, which I sold to finance my Modulus. I never think about them in terms like "punchier", "better sustain" etc. Both my current basses have sustain for ages, due to great construction, and the materials used.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference, what sound do you like, and how do you achieve it? I think you can compare it to a football formation.

A lot of people argue about what formation is the most effective, e.g. 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1 etc., but in the end, it all comes down to which team scores the most goals. I think sometimes people get too caught up with the small details, and miss the purpose of what they are doing/playing/whatever.

And I dare anyone to say that an American MTD bass is inferior in construction to a Brice/SX/J&D bass with a neck-through construction.
