I am tired of hearing everyone say when given the question "Which bass is best? This BO or NT?" Everyone allways says "Uh, they are both good, they are just made differently"

How come all the famous Warwick players play with high end instruments, how come Ryan Martinie doesnt play with a BO instead then?

A NT is better than a BO, a Corvette Pro Line is better than a regular Corvette with passive electronics. I think when you cross the line of 20 000 Euro things starts to look different though. And ofcourse you cant compare a Thumb NT with a Infinity NT, the sound you can but not which one is the best bass. Because they are both at the top of craftmanship and its just the sound that differs but both basses are better than Thumb BO.

A Corvette BO Passive Mics and Thumb NT you can discuss which bass is the best, its the Thumb NT, end of story.

Ofcourse as a rich artist you would wanna buy that bass you dreamed of owning as a kid but still i think a NT is better than a BO, in the same meaning as a real fender is better than a squier.

Just because they cost more doesn't make them better. Some players prefer the sound and feel of a bolt on. It's like manual and automatic transmissions. To each their own...That's the joy of being able to form your own opinion.

You already have an answer for all your questions, I don't see any reason to open a thread

A Warwick thumb NT is better than a Corvette, stop PR talking. Ofcourse its in the eye of the beholder. Some (stupid/weird) person would like a rock bass instead of a real warwick. But if you did an overall vote of which one would prefare a Thumb NT or a BO the NT would win. The NT is a better instrument, its the best of thouse 2 options. Maybe somebody thinks the BO sounds better or like it better but the NT is a better instrument.

So according to you: my home made bass guitar made in second grade can be better than a Warwick. Ofcourse this is to go the extreme but it still points that that your formula doesnt work (atleast all the time)

in short, no...

nothing makes the NT better than the BO... (ok, the NT has a 3-band eq and the bo, a 2-band, big deal...)

Apart from that some genuinely think and consider that BO is better than NT...

Many companies make expensive basses, but BO only. For example F-Bass and Ritter. Tim C. (RATM) plays a Standard American Fender, and not a Deluxe American, because he prefers passive pickups.

I have both NT and BO Thumbs, and NT is not better than BO in my opinion. Here's the deal: NT costs more to build than BO, so you will have a price gap. Warwick chose to have the NT models more exclusive than the BO by having a 3 way eq instead of 2 way. The necks are also more elaborate: 5 piece Ovangkol with Ekanga veneers for the 5 string Thumb NT opposed to the 4 piece Ovangkol without veneers for the BO. Yes, Warwick made the NT models more luxurious than the BO models, and I think it's (also) marketing related. But all these features (3 way eq and Ekanga veneers) don't make the NT models better. Generally speaking, NT is not better than BO in my opinion.

So im in a guitar store, and i asks if they have any Fenders, yes he says, but this 20 dollar guitar made of cheap plastic is as good as that expensive fender up on the wall, they are just made different. Its all about the sound you know, some people like this 20 dollar guitar more than that Fender for 1000 dollar.

I would rather play a Corvette STD Passive then a Thumb NT. That's why I bought one. I think it plays better and I think it sounds better. Most here would probably think I'm crazy for thinking this, but who cares? It's all about your personal preference. Not what others say and not what the price tag says.

That's your opinion Nojja. I had an Infinity NT but have owned two Thumb BO's and think that for me, the Thumb is the better bass of the two. It has nothing to do with price. If you think that the expensive NT's are just categorically better than BO's, get ready to spend an assload of money that you might not have had to. I prefer my cheap bolt-on Proline to my old NT Infinity by a wide margin. ~M~

ok, the bubinga used to make my corvette standard is just as good as the bubinga used to make a Thumb NT... it's not a matter of quality of construction...

(oh, and for the record, a 1000$ fender probably has 20$ worth of wood in it anyway.... (yeah, I don't like fenders, I'm that way...))

One more example !!!

I just bought an Ibanez (yeah, I keep on bragging about this little sucker) Prestige SR20th anniversary bass. It's a BO, and costs much more than the (standard) Prestige NT basses...............(and sounds a lot better too). 8)

Well you cant use this "formula" for everything. Which i have allready proven it looks stupid in 90% of the cases.

I made a bass out of a banana is just as good as my thumb NT bass, because i think so, it sounds just as good to play on. End of point.

There is a reason why all Warwick endorsed musicians uses their more expensive gear (and plz iknow there are people who uses some W. Corvette) and its not because they try to get the most expensive instrument just because its free. They test most of the basses and picks out the one they think is best. And its never been the cheapest warwick bass.

The one who thinks a squire is better than a Fender says it because they have a special connection to just their special squire.

(iknow i sound like i dont get what you are saying, but i do, i just get a bit frustrating when people cant admit that one warwick bass is better than the other, it just sounds too brainwashed)

Sponsored musicians then. I dont know exactly what endorse means more than support

I think this dude just wants to argue. Guess he needs a hobby. :?

Well, let's try to find out some truth in his thinking:

If BO and NT are equally good, then how come you don't have a top of the line BO Warwick ?? How come the BOs don't have Ekanga in the Ovangkol necks ?? Why not Pommele for the Corvette ?? Sure, you can get all of this with a CS bass, but it's not a standard feature.

I think it may be interesting to specifcally figure out what the original question is. What's the original question Nojja ??

1 NT is (simply) better than BO ??
2 NT Warwick is better than a BO Warwick ??
3 NT is better sounding than a BO ??
4 NT Warwick is better sounding than a BO Warwick ??

They get better discounts and phone numbers to call if something breaks. They also can sometimes specify what sort of 'look' they want on a stock bass. For instance, if an endorsee wanted a Thumb, he/she might be able to ask for a tighter grain or darker body instead of just the next one off the shelf. ~M~

Head over to the Fbass webpage, and read the little thingy about bolt-on vs. NT basses.

I used to wonder if there wasn't a bigger difference, but that changed my mind. I've played an Fbass, and it was absiolutely unreal. Amazing. stunning. Heavenly. ORGASMIC! A little ugly too.

Anyway, in one sense, I do agree with the poster. Not all warwicks are as good as each other.

Streamers are better than thumbs.

Its science.

The level of craftmanship is not a synonym for 'better'. My Kubicki is better than all of your Warwick's combined..for me.

If you look at it that way, no bass is better than the other..it all depends on the personal view of the person.

If you look at 'better' being the same as a higher level of craftmanship, then there are differences and you CAN say one is better than the other. Most of the people that say that the basses are just made differently, look at a bass as a tool, rather than a coffeetable..and then the only thing that counts is which bass plays better and sounds better to the person playing.

Very, very well put.
