No case for the states?!

Hello all, I'm new. I'm going to order a custom shop Corvette, nothing insane at all. I then find that the UK Customs come with a flightcase while the U.S. gets a padded gig bag. What's the deal? I think it would make sense seeing as how it has to cross the sea to California then make it's way to me. Why can't the U.S. customs come with a flightcase. I would feel a lot better about order my bass then.
 
Probably a similar reason the warwick.de site's online store doesn't ship to the States... I have no idea why we don't get hardcases but the gigbags are pretty stout as-is. My CS will show up in a gigbag and I'm not worried about it. You can always call DBG or the dealer you ordered your CS through and see if they'll throw in a hardcase or cut you a good deal on one... :wink: ~M~
 
I'm just afraid of receiving it after all the hard work, money and the long trip through the air or over the sea, opening it and finding a cracked neck or a bunch of dings. It just makes sense to send it in a flightcase.
 
I am also concerned about basses getting damaged if they're not shipped in a flight case. However, it is a fact that many basses, not just Warwick, do get shipped in a gigbag; of course, the whole thing will be additionally packed with carton and stuff I guess..................Anyhow, if this method would damage basses, surely no single bass manufacturer would transport basses this way. Agreed, I prefer flightcases for this reason too. Another mysterious phenomenon: countries that do get a Rockcase: UK, CZ, D, CH, PL and AT. This is a list of countries where you get a flightcase with your NT Warwick bass, like the Dolphin NT or Thumb NT. I think this list is also applicable to Custom Shop basses. Depending on where you live you get a flightcase or not...........strange :wink:
 
italy is not included in that list, but the italian distributor throws in a flight case for free with every CS bass...i don't know about the standard NT basses tho :? ...so maybe try contacting dana b. goods about it :D
 
I recieved a faulty gigbag and would replace it with a different brand if you get one. The zipper tore off the bottom of the bag, almost lost the bass. Props to Dana B. Goods for giving me a new bag under warranty but I have changed gigbag brands...
 
The hardshell case deal is a special through the distributor, and Dana B. Goods just doesn't want to do that. The two CS's I have both were packed very well for shipping, and the gig bags are very good quality.
 
the warwick gig bags are very very well padded though...
 
Well even if they are padded very well and they are safe, it just doesn't seem fair. I pay extra for the CS, they put it more work and then they give me a gig bag you would ship a Rockbass in. Is there anything I might be able to do to get my Warwick dealer to throw in a flight, even though the bass will make the trip without one.
 
have you already done the deal with them? if not you can probably haggle and get a case thrown into the deal
 
This is an issue with the Distributor. Considering the basses are more expensive in the US, due to many reason, they decided to save some money on the cases, since the bass is well-protected anyways. ALL the basses that go to the US (from Warwick) are shipped in a box with the Gig Bag inside, and we haven't had any problems just yet.

If you still would want a hard case for your custom Warwick, I'm sure Dana B. Goods will sell you one.

On a side note, I received my latest custom shop bass from Warwick about a month directly from Germany to the US and then to the Dominican Republic in a Gig Bag and nothing happened to it.

I guess the worst thing that could happen to your bass, is that the Buckeye Burl Fungus is going to spread to the rest of your bass...........the neck.................the electronics................the chances are very negligible I think....................(I'm pretty sure.................I hope......) :lol:
 
I also noticed that the shirt and hat logo I ordered from Dana B. Goods says sound of wood instead of the German webs bass,Amps and Rock n Roll - I actually like my soft rockbag better than a hardshell - but we all have preferences of course
 
I haven't done the deal yet. The place I'm ordering through has the flight cases on sale for $160. I might just go ahead and get one anyway. "O" if you had no problem trusting them to send that beautiful Buckeye Burl Infinity then maybe I don't have anything to worry about. Thanks for helping me relax about it. Also, I got a ETA of 4-6 months, I imagine it won't take nearly that long, right? I'm basically getting a Corvette Standard 4 with only one pickup.

I get basses shipped to the Dominican Republic all the time, since I'm also the distributor here in the country for Warwick. Most of the basses come here in a standard Gig Bag, and so far we've never had any problems with any of the shipments, so you've got nothing to worry about.

About the ETA, sometimes it take a lot less time to build the instrument you want, but in some cases it actually takes what the predicted it would take. The only rare case is that it takes longer than they said, this doesn't happen.
