New Warwick Frets

being in America, can I order aftermarket frets off of this site or would I have to get them through an authorized Warwick dealer? I need a re-fret on my Streamette.

True,but not all fret wire is not alike.Frets have a pretty big impact on your tone,it's the first point of contact between finger & strings.
Warwick uses a brass alloy fret wire of jumbo profile.Also the tang,that's the bit that bites into the fingerboard,has a shape that's different to most fret wire used by other builders.So to swap to another fret wire needs the fret slots to be filled & re-sawn.

And the fret wire won't be brass colored.I have seen warwicks with silver colored fret's and to me it doesn't look right.I would spend the extra money to get the correct fret wire.

I love the brass colored frets! and of course brass frets altogether.'

Some of my other "good" basses have nickel frets and without the brass frets... do not look right. You know what I mean?

it would look awesome with golden hardware (instead of the chrome and black plastic knobs)and brass frets no? Warwick uses metal knobs so those would be awesome on it... ( ...thinking )

Yes, for God's sake, you definately have to replace the frets on your Warwick with the brass alloy ones, geeze! How could anyone use steel or nickel for fretwire on a Warwick? It so plays a role in the signature tone!

Doesn't Ryan Martinie have steel frets on his custom black Thumb 4 and 5 basses? The ones with the chrome hardware? I first remember thinking, "he put chrome-colored frets on his custom Warwicks to match the color scheme, ugh!" I forgave him pretty quick though. He's still my fav bass player.

They are wide, and the luthier can cut them.

can anyone tell me the dimensions of warwick fret wire (width and height)? i'm just curious, because "Jumbo" is almost a blanket term. there are quite a few different sizes people call jumbo. Either way I like the way they feel, just wondering.

I didn't think the streamette was ready for a refret when I sent it to you.

IIRC, there was/is a bit of wear on the third fret on the E string, but I never

had any issues with it, and I tend to play a bit rough...

Now I feel bad...(
