Hello Rallie,
Your bass has the new Warwick Security Locks. One part of it is already built into your bass, the other parts are supposed to be screwed to your strap, so that you can use the little buttons to get the strap on and off the bass with easy and so it protects it from falling down unexpectedly. If you need further information, have no doubts on asking again.

Thanks for answering Oliver.
I know how these locks work; I know also how to screw te part on my strap.
The thing I don't understand is the part built on my bass. It appears to be a usual strap, while I expected to find a "hole" in which put the part on the strap. Am I wrong?

The new Warwick Security allow both configurations, using a standard strap without the clips or using the clips that come with the bass. Please post a picture here or send it to me via a private so I can double-check what kind of strap junctions your bass have. It would be helpful I we had the serial number too.

I bought a thumb 5 NT new in 03,the strap pins i got are the standard conical shape that is on 15,04948487,0459487 other basses,i didnt get strap locks,or tools,(hex keys),wax,manual,a warranty card for a corvette with wrong serial number instead of a thumb warranty card with my serial number on it.& yes,i did contact the retailer,where warwick wax is $29.95/can. :lol: the longer time passes the less confident i get in obtaining my warranty card,even if it has expired,it'd be nice to have.the aussie distributor is alotta help as long as it's limited to emails &/or phone calls.

Hello there. The new security locks were introduced in late 2004 in some basses only and now are part of the complete production line. In the worst case scenario in which you do not have the strap locks on your bass and you wish to obtain them, you should contact your local dealer about the matter, or if you are within the USA you can contact Dana B. Goods directly at [email protected]
To thumperton, this seems to be that your dealer misplaced your bass with a Corvette.

I received your picture and I replied back with instructions but just in case anyone else is having trouble trying to install the security locks for their straps, here's how it works.
1. Attach the locks to your strap like shown:
2. Just insert the inner side of the pin into the lock already built-in into your bass.
3. To remove the strap from the bass all you will need to do is push on the button on the outside of the locking system, like shown:
Hope this helps a little everyone out there that has the Warwick Security Locks on their basses.

Personally I find SHaller Straploks MUCH safer, you have to PULL the know, not puch, and it surronds the strap pin. Less chance of bumping it off, which I've seen happen before.
That's just my opinion.

I've been using this kind for a long time, it is the same style used by the Dunlop Straplocks... and I think it works perfectly for what I need. Very rarely I would be in a position where I think I could bump hard enough into my locks to make it unlock.

Question; Is it possible to get a set of these for a non-Warwick bass, so I can use the one strap for both basses? Will the part that attaches to the strap fit into standard Dunlop locks?

Since I play mostly heavy metal I can say that I am more agressive than your avarage player. I also have a Yamaha RBX775 that I used for several years both live and in studio it's strap buttons did not even move. I'll have to say tht unfortunatelly the Warwick strap locks or at least the ones that came with my bass are of inferior quallity.scottm said:
