I recently acquired it off good old eBay
for what I felt was a ridiculous price given
the rarity of these basses.
It was well faded, dirty, and missing a knob when
I got it, but cleaning it up is half the fun anyway...
What I didn't know, is that it is semi hollow.
I took the pickups and bridge off while cleaning,
and there are channels running on either side of
the faux through neck between layers of wood.
They aren't massive cavities, but tapping on it you can hear that they run through the majority of the body:
Sleeping pug!
and yes, it sounds great.
different than any other bass I've had.
Fat and nasty P bass tweaker tones to
midrangey honk. Crazy.
Loving the neck pickup right now...
