New bass and neck worries

Hey guys, I don't know if any of you remember me, but I posted a thread regarding which bass to get some time back. I ended up getting a Corvette Standard 4 string passive, ash body, and I'm so damn happy with it. I think it will be some time before I can find a bass that works so fine. Awesome job Warwick! As much as I love my instrument, I kinda worry quite a lot about it lol. (who doesn't?) With Singapore being an equatorial country, the humudity is way higher and other parts of the world. Frankly I'm quite worried about neck warp due to the increased humidity where I'm at, and it being the wet and rainy season does not help much.

Currently I've stuffed a bag of silica gel to suck up the moisture in the case and kept the whole thing in an upright position, which works so far. But just to be sure, are there any other measures I can take to keep neck warping from becoming a serious problem, or even happening at all?

i'm not sure but i remember that the manual says to not leave the bass in the car in hot days, and i think that is a measure to keep the bass from drying out. i also remember that the neck gets necessary humidity from your left hand .. i think drying out is a bigger problem .. but i'm not sure yet :) however each extreme has something to do with your bass but don't worry it is not drastical if you take a little care. for ex my hands are allways wet and the neck stays well. i clean a little the bass with a cloth and it is in shape, and never had a problem.

I live in Oregon and it's INSANELY wet and humid here and my bass is just fine, I every now and then apply a little linseed oil to it and it's been great for the year that I've owned it :)
 
I would keep it in a hard case and lay it on the floor when not it use. Outside, keep it out of the sunlight as much as possible. In humid indoor places don't stay there any longer than you have to. If something goes bad then at least it's a bolt on so you can get another neck. Enjoy your bass!
 
Buy a de-humidifier & whack it in yer music room. :wink:

What a beauty!!!
You should not have problems with your instrument. I'd wax the neck once/ week, and that's it.
And welcome back dude :-)

I forgot whack means something else entirely in the USA.
Here,whack means-bung,chuck,stick,position,place etc. :wink:
It's not fun being old & not with it.
Does that make me whack? :lol:
 
Whacking it in the music room, waxing the dolphin. This place is perverted. :D Which is why I love it.

Unless you stick that beast in the shower with you (if you do I DO NOT want to know) a good waxing once a week or so should take care of your needs.

My Ric has lived in Kingston, Canada (humid), Houston (really frackin humid), Laughlin, USA (dryer'n a popcorn fart) and Clinton, USA, dry. So damp, tropical wet, and 2 deserts. And no probs with the neck. And Warwick necks are a helluva lot beffier than Ric necks.
 
Nice bass! I love the ash bodied vettes. I am a 'vette fanaitic anyway and I will probably look into getting one this year.
 
Hey thanks guys! I really appreciate the help. :) I'll most prob get a de-humidifier this weekend when I hit the shops and slap/whack/wallop/etc it in. XD And yes, waxing has become one the few things I start to like, I find myself waxing my bass more than playing my PC games lol.

Great to hear that motleycrew, post some pics when you get yours!

Actually, I won't mind mini Warwicks popping out from its body if I do that, lol.
