After 12 years with just a Thumb bass V NT to my name and no other basses, I've finally bought another one - a Streamer Stage 1 V

I have to admit that paying over £700 to a completely unknown seller on ebay, on the other side of the world, was one of the more worrying things I've done recently. But it turned up at my friend's house in Colorado last night in mint condition but in need of a set up.

The neck looks huge on this thing, so it'll be interesting to see how I get on.

Now I've just got to wait 3 weeks until I actually get my hands on it!!!!

BTW It's very different from the Stage II V Fretless I was originally going to get, but at the price I paid (and £1000 less than the new Stage II was going to cost me), I thought it's got to be worth a try.
 
That's great stuff, Bassoctopus - I've been following your quest for a fretless in this forum - let us know how you get on with it when it arrives!

Very nice bass, you are lucky man.
On my side, I have been lookin for exactly this model for a long time, but in France the prices are higher for a second hand (minimum 1500 Euros).
Is it bartolini equipped?
I've never had the opportunity to try this model so
is there anybody who can give the width of the neck of the stage I 5s at the 1st fret and at the 24th fret .
I'm currently using a corvet 5s and for me the neck is too narrow. I'm unconfortable when I switch quickly to my P fender or my Thumb 6s whose neck are larger
 
Nice Streamer Neil,what year is it?I cant quite make it out in the pic.It looks immaculate mate,very nice indeed.
 
The guy told me he bought it new in 2001, but the serial number is 99 - I guess it could have been late 99 and sat in a shop for 12 months. He's a guitarist who just used it for recording occasionally in the house, hence the condition.

I haven't seen it first hand yet, but apparently it's as immaculate as it looks in the photos.

That flamed maple looks great,fer gawds sake dont de-fret it.Are you going to wax this one or oil it like your Thumb?
 
Not sure about the oil on this lighter wood. I will take advice from my luthier, if he recommends it I will certainly get him to do it. I've far better thinks to do than wax the bass every week ;)

Interesting, I assumed the pickups were MEC. And Warwick advertises MEC as the Streamer Stage 1 pickups.

But looking at the pics on the US Warwick site, the 4 and 6 string Stage 1 s look like they come with MEC pickups, but the 5 has definitely got the same SDs as mine.

According to the online manual it should have MECs, (the FNA has SD bassline pickups and a different pre-amp, including different knob controls.)

I wonder why that is? Any ideas?

I think I'll start a new thread on this...
 
I might be wrong but i think all Warwicks come with MECs as standard; SDs are a custom upgrade.
