My new favorite strings

I used to Use Rotosounds but they make my fingers too sore and then i discovered Warwick Black labels... i fell in love with them until.... I finally found some EMPS and now i have 5 brand new sets of EMPs waiting to be put in after the ones i have on my Wics expire (all EMPs but 2 which nare black labels) .

Warwick= EMPs
 
I currently favor SIT Rock Brights Nickel strings (45-125). Stainless Steel strings slow me down too much, I feel like they grab my finger tips. And for Nickel strings, I just love SITs.
 
The Rotosounds do the same thing and they end up hurting your fingertips that's why I did not like them. I like to let my fingers "sliiide" through the strings and caress them rather than feeling a grip of them on my fingertips.
 
I put a set of DR highbeams on my 'vette and I will probably get them again..

Have you compared these to the Warwick Yellow Label Nickel strings? I really like Yellow Label strings, but would like to know your findings in favor of the SIT...
 
Actually, I have. Over the past 2-3 months, I've switched back and forth between the Yellow Label and the SIT several times. I prefer the guages of the Warwick set (Warwick = 45-130, SIT = 45-125), but the Warwick's feel more like a steel string to my fingertips (they're still a bit grabby). SITs are smoother and easier to glide around on. I ended up getting SIT to make me a custom set 45-130, so now I have my ideal set (oh, the perks of owning a music store).

If you'd like to try a set, let me know. I don't currently sell the SIT strings on my site, but I'll be adding them soon. In the meantime, we can do PayPal or you can call me with a credit card (877-449-GEAR). PM me the gauages you like, and I'll PM you a quote for the closest SIT match.
 
I've been using Blue Steels for around 20 years now and have recently switched over to their Misfits gauge which I like a bit better. The Blue Steels have always been good to me and even though I don't need to anymore, they have good boil value as well.

I might order some SIT nickels and Silencers (do you carry these?) at the end of summer when I'm out of the hospital. I'm also trying out DR nickel strings as well, though currently, I really like how Warwick strings bring out the tone and feel of Warwick basses! I also like the spiral core at the tuning end of Warwick strings for a better grip at the tuning post.
 
I was wanting to get hold of some SIT strings but couldn't find any in UK, can't justify getting strings from US.

I've switched to nickle strings now, and swapped gauges as i strained my left hand play too much bass and guitar hero in combination with no breaks....

Anyway was gonna try some yellow lables but the guys at bass gallery recomended some galli strings. Think i've seen the name crop up here once or twice. But wow the nickle strings are amazing, silky smooth, bouncy, tight, growly. After a good week not lost the new string sound. Crazy sustain, really transparent tone they just sing in my ears. I'm kinda shocked tbh never knew strings could be this good!
 
Callum, you're having the same experience as I'm having with DR Sunbeams :)
Nickel is the way to go for me :)
 
I hae to again throw my hat in for DR Sunbeams. Smooth and soft, with great tone. I've always found it easier to put extra treble back into the sound, rather than have to try to remove it. I used to play Steinbergers with stainless strings -- talk about treble -- now, I go for nickel.

SIT's are also very nice. I've used them on a few of my basses, and they make a nice 8-string set also.
 
D'Addario EXL 170-5 the one and only string set for me.

years ago I only used warwick black labels on all my basses, which is a all warwick arsenal of course. I switched to the dadarrio exl 170 nickel plated strings about 7 years ago.

well, when I got my custom shop ss1 in, it was strung with warwick emp's (medium gauge). I fell in love again and have since made the switch back to warwick strings!

the emp's are amazing.......their tone is perfect! im a string whore, and these strings sound perfect after many dates on the road....which is unheard of for me.
 
DR Highbeams. Beautiful tone, brings out the mix-slicing beast in my 'wick, although those black labels were nice too. Must give them another try soon, along with a set of EMPs
