My new favorite strings

Dean Markely blue steel NPS 50-110 these strings rule they are so dark sounding but can also be mellow. What are some other favorites
 
I need to try some Blue Steels...

My favs so far are Warwick Black Label for steel string modern aggression, Warwick Yellow lLbel for nickel strings for mellower warmth and traditional tones, and Warwick EMP for coated, longer lasting strings. Warwick strings will always be my favorite for feel and tone with my Warwick basses. They were made for each other and a match made in heaven! :D

I also like DR Marcus Miller steel strings and DR Jonas Hellbord UFO-40 nickel strings. These guys know their stuff and their sound, and these signature strings really add something to the tonal mix!
 
I bet most musicshops can take them in, as long as they atleast sell strings or instruments ;)

I wonder how much of what you're enjoying is from the "Blue Steel"
and how much is from the heavy guage. I don't use them but I do hear
some complaint that the "Blue Steel" effect is short lived. So I thought
I'd mention that GHS Boomers are another 110 set you might try.

I had a set years ago when I was just starting out in bass, and found
them hard to play, but prolly just cuz I was so new to bass. Since then,
I've gotten away from RWs anyway, so I can't really describe the tone.

I thought my fave was TI Jazz Flats, but I recently noticed that I have
more basses strung with LaBella black nylon than with Jazz Flats :-?

I might have a new fave, but I'm only on my first set: DR Flats. They
are sorta between GHS Precision Flats and D'A Chromes. Not so bright
as Chromes, but more "personality" than GHS Precision. DR flats are a
fairly new product so there's not a lot of users reporting on it, but I'm
thinking they may become my faves for fretted basses, which would
replace my current fretted string: D'A Pure Nickel 1/2Rounds.

the difference between nps and the normal ones are that the nps strings are nickel plated and the normal blue steels are stainless but i am using these strings now because i've been playing a lot of mudvane and i was down tuning a lot. But if i am not i use d addario flats 45-100 they are perfect because they can be mellow or gritty depending on how a set my $$ thats y i love my double buck

DR Sunbeams have a nice mellow broken-in sound

Status strings are affordable and excellent quality. I've used their single-ball strings and their double-ball Steinberger strings. Shipping for the UK to the US isn't particularly expensive either. I highly recommend their nylon tapewounds -- better than Rotosound nylons in my opinion.

Being Australian,I cant help but make up nicknames for my friends.It normally involves cutting the name in half,doubling the last letter & adding a y or ie at the end.So you're,"Golly,the fretless master". :wink:

I use Dean Markley Blue Steels as well, they seem to give the best tone IMO, much better than the Wick Black Labels and about half the price too.

If someone hadn't asked, I wouldn't say... but I carry the complete line of Warwick strings (Red, Yellow, Black, EMP, even the Dark Lords). And my website quotes exact international shipping rates as part of the checkout process. USPS is the way to go for non-US shipping, it's the least expensive.

My string wall is as dominated by Warwick as my bass wall. I love it :)
