Here it is:

Corvette
Ovankol Body
Ovankol Neck
Black Hardware
8-strings
Ebony Fretless Fretboard
Passive P/TJ MEC pickups
Passive Electronics...

Which should bring the SRP around 2000 euros...

Although going much simpler

Corvette Standard Ash
P/TJ passive pickups
Passive Electronics
Fretless Ebony Board

Which Should keep the SRP at around 1000...

I like the P/TJ configuration for sure, but are you sure you want to go passive? Personally I'd go for #1 if for no other reason than it's so different from a stock bass. Of course, it sounds like it would be twice the cost. Keep us updated...
 
Thinking of that pickup configuration myself.

An all ovangkol corvette - like a Thumb BO.. sounds good...

8 strings... would love to hear how that sounds!

Be interesting to know how you get on and what you eventually choose!

so you were waiting for your Knuckle bass right ?? So are you planning on getting a Warwick one of these days as well ?? You are a dedicated Warwick buff since you went all the way to Markneukirchen to visit Warwick............. :wink:

Oh I'm a Warwick buff all right...

I went with the Knuckle first because they offer things that no other basses (even the Warwicks...) do: an extra extra long scale which was necessary for my octave-down 8-string....

But I'm going to go with a Warwick for my next bass, of course... :D

It's all good, just checking. What about leaving off the control knob, since passive preamps are kind of like mute/unmute switches anyway? :idea:
 
sounds killer..the 8 string...man that would be one sweet bass especially being fretless.

Passive electronics you should definitely go with volume and tone for each pup.

i also prefer passive basses...more expressive in my opinion.

Yup, but in the end, the main difference between passive and active pups is the size of the magnets... So even if you switch an active pickup to passive, it's not the same as a straight passive pickup...

Just sayin'...

Evolvebass, you might be on to something, here...
Instead of Knobs, either just a few switches to toggle pickups, or a "beak" type of 7-way toggle:

-Neck P
-Neck P plus Twin J humbucker
-Neck P plus Bridge coil
-Twin J humbucker
-Twin J split coil
-Twin J "Neck coil"
-Twin J Bridge coil

Or go with the Nikki Sixx philosophy:

One On/off switch, where on is the full blast of all pickups...
Why settle for anything alse than going at 11?

i'm not sure if all these pickup options would be possible. sounds like a very cool bass though. especially as a fretless
 
That Corvette idea has been tainted by my new role as a Buzzard brother...

Current form:

-Corvette or Buzzard BO
-Ovangkol neck
-Zebrano Body
-35" scale
-BEAD tuning
-Fretless Ebony Board
-Single Hellborg pickup
 
The benefit of a bolt on Buzzard is that you can get it as a 5 stringer as well. Why not include the low F# as well. Isn't that more "you" ?? 8)

Yeah, In a way, but I've got the low register covered with my (still future...) Quake, so now i just want a nice fretless for the solos... :P

Actually, looking at this picture, I' thinking that it would actually look better as a Thumb NT... ( no 35" on NTs, though...)

The idea is that you get rid of your Knuckle............... :lol:

Hey Jan, it's a bit far fetched maybe, but there is something like a low C# string right ?? Any chance Warwick can make such a bass ?? They just need to obtain this friggin' thick string, modify the nut and stuff..............Would you be interested ?? Just wondering.............. 8)

Get rid of the Knuckle? Naaah...

There are such things as low C# strings around, but they are not really applicable in the "four string, downtuned" context of the Dark Lord... Eventually people will get that low, and there will be a demand for it, but personally, I like relatively high tension on my strings, so my .195 gauge low E on my Knuckle's 39.55" scale will probably be fine, but a C# string on a 35" scale will not be to my liking, I'm pretty sure... ( I mean even B-strings usually never are, I use .140s or .145s for my Bs...)
