That's official!

My very first warwick will be arriving soon, ETA in about week, but I'm so excited (and excitable), I just can't wait to tell you all about it!

It's Eude's number. A Thumb BO 5 '98, Wenge neck, wenge fingerboard, Ovankol body. 8)

This thing is gonna slay! Can't wait to put my impatient mits on it, give it the welcome polish and buff, and play it hard until my hands bleed!!! :twisted:

Then there is the small matter of me getting a 'vette $$ 4 after that... Just hope I don't lose my job in the meanwhile! Fuels my addictions nicely 8)
 
Wow, congratulations monkey, I remember how hard it was for me to wait on my first Warwick. The fact that it's a Thumb BO 5 makes it alot harder to bare I assume. It's an awesome bass. Please take some pics once you get it! Congratulations, once again.

and here it is! Hallelujah!









Sound is huge and quite different from my ibby (more classic sounding). Cuts like a knife through butter. Big fat growly lows, with a dark edge to it, clear highs, and good sound balance throughout the range. The B is tight.

But... Neck dive is pretty intense. It's like it wants to be played horizontally. I blame the strap lock at the back being way too high. Why isn't there a strap anchor underneath the bridge? That would cure it, surely. It's also much heavier than my other basses. A Real Man's instrument, no doubt. Also, it's also harder to reach the nut (smaller upper horn?). So, for Real Men with long arms, and a solid back!

And, I like to play with an thumb anchor, and I get my favorite sound playing closer to the fretboard. So I have to use the fretboard as a thumb anchor. Just required a bit of adaptation.

All that not much of a problem, since I am still practising sitting down, and the sound more than makes up for it. I like the chunky neck. I'm more comfortable than with my flat neck on the ibanez. Go figure.

All in All, an instrument made for big manly guys. Although Prince seems to cope all right.

The sound is quite close to what I'm getting, although he is dubbed by the dude hiding in the background. Easy to notice if you manage not to get too distracted by the insanely foxy lady shaking her booty :) Mama!

Have the BO's got slightly longer bodies than the NT basses? That one looks like it's stretched in the middle compared to mine! Maybe the BO neck just sits a bit further from the pickups.
 
You have a fine bass there!

Yes the bodies of the Thumb Bolt-On basses are a little larger than the bodies on Thumb NT's.

1+ on that question. I always wondered. It might be an optical illusion as there's a lot of empty space in the middle. Hope someone has the answer. /Patrik
 
Thumb BO bodies are longer to accomodate the heel for the neck joint. They also look cosmetically a lot longer because the fretboard is only 24 frets opposed to 26 on a NT.

To help with the balance issue i'd recommend playing the bass a lot higher up on the body than most. The curved back fits nicely on the gut/ribs and you'll have better fretboard access and find yourself being able to play faster.

Don't worry, I take care of my stuff :) It's in very good condition, it will stay like that! I just can't help it though, I've been practising so hard this weekend and loving it, I had to stock up on recording / practise gear :) (Sansamp DI, Grado headphones, basic mixing desk). That should spice up things, and calm the neighbours!
 
Congratulations! Keep up the good work and to your career! Please share more of your masterpieces. I would like to try to listen to it. Just extend you patience to this field, you’ll succeed in the future.
