My First Defret Project (Non Warwick)

Hey Fellas,

I've had this bass for about 10 years and I didn't really play it much, but wanted to keep it around. So, I decided to defret it and it came out ok. I sounded good before fretted, and sounds awesome defretted. If I could do it again I would change a couple of things... like staining the fretboard before I put the epoxy down. I also might add more epoxy later to help bring the shine out. I just filled the slots with some colored wood putty and it worked out ok. It's a 1996 Nanyo Boeki SGC (Bass Collection). Please excuse my crappy pics with poor lighting, I will post some daytime shots later.

Looks good. Would really like to see a better picture of the fret board. From the picture you posted, it looks like where you filled the frets, it looks a slightly different color, which is cool, because it looks like fret lines. Looks like it was done on purpose. I like it.

So were there any issues with intonation when you defretted the instrument?

Again, looks good.

Randy, I was originally going to put white lines in where the frets used to be but decided I would like something that matched the fretboard a little bit better. When the sun comes out (if it ever does), I will take some new pics of it. No issues with intonation either.
