My current dream bass...

well, It's just a dream, unfortunately, i don't have the 6000 euros needed to make it a reality, so it will have to go in the vault with my $$ Vampyres and other oddities...

I just had a revelation...
The custom shop now offers double neck basses...

Bwahahahahah !!!

Shouldn't one be fretless or are you going to have make a triple-neck?

Well it that case i'd have to make it a 4-necks:

-4-string fretted
-4-string fretless
-8-string fretted
-8-string fretless

but that would just make it silly now wouldn't it ? :P

Jan, I think your GAS is getting out of control.

Although it is a gorgeous dream bass.

Not my cup of tea at all, but original for sure !

The first bass = amazing the second one though...i can see doctors bill costing more than the bass

mmm to solve the fretless problem just get 2 double neck basses, and one could be like a dark blue maybe.....:D

no the fretless 4/8 would have to be flat black, black hardware, ebony boards...

Brilliant! Must weigh as much as a small house though...

BTW Jan, how come you love 8 strings so much? I've never played one mind, what am I missing out on?

I don't know, actually... The first time I heard a 12-string and knew what it was I knew I had to get one one day (I actually almost bought a 12-stringer as my first bass!). It's the fullness of the sound that attracts me, the fact that it can full the whole rhythm section all by itself...

The 8-string is a very nice step between the simple 4-banger and the extremes of the 12-string bass, which can become easily somewhat of a novelty item. The 8-stringer has a strong fundamental, with just a touch of the octave string, just to fill out the sonic space and turn the growl of bass and the howl of rhythm guitar into one mean beast, claws and teeth out, ready to eat the souls of the living!

(sorry, got a bit carried out, there... :P)

Looks evil!!! But how ergonomic would it be, considering that you have to wear the doule-necks pretty high? The back-horn-slab would be in the way for the right arm .... or????

Keep 'em mock-ups coming!!!!

The thing with the buzzard is that the "back" wing acts as a convenient arm rest and counterweight, easing some of the weight and neckdive issues associated with double necks... As for height of wear, I have to say that since I'Ve (or anyone else for thet matter) never seen a double neck buzzard, it's hard to judge the ergonomics of it...
