MEC pickup cover replacements

The MEC pickups up my 91 Thumb 5 Thru have taken a bit of a pounding from being too high. They now have nice string marks where the b string is, and the MEC logo has worn off the pickups.

Is it possible to get replacement pickup covers, or would I need to replace the whole pickup?

That's a 15 year old instrument ... I'd say that's "nice wear" or "nicely broken in". Or is the electronics damaged? I wouldn't mind my bass looking worn as long as it sounds good.... Look at Pastorius Fender....

I don't mind it, just wondering if replacement covers were available, or whether I would need to get new pickups.

New pickups would be a complete no-no for me. And my thumb has a 16 year "thumb" dent above the front pickup and some nice wear in the "popping" section of the bass.

All part of the instrument's history IMO.

A 16 year old bass should show some wear if it has been worthy of playing. I would leave the covers if they're not hurting anything...

Neil you can get bubinga pup covers for your thumb,I don't have a link but getting it wouldn't be difficult.I think Warwick might be doing wood pup covers soon too,or maybe that was a dream I had. :shock:

I enquired about this when I ordered my bass and they said that they were working on them and were expecting to have them done later this year
