Making my Thumb NT4 PASSIVE?!?!?!

Hey guys. I have a vintage THumb NT4 that currently has the two-band pre amp and EMG's in it and i have been tossing the idea around about wiring it up with a passive VVT control set up and possibly some Nordstrand or Bart PUPs.

Any thoughts or ideas woulod be greatl appreciated. THanks
 
sounds good, if it were me id put some SD's in it, but thoses are actice arent they.what year is your thumb anyway?
 
With this vintage bass I would not change anything that is original. That's just me though.
 
I am pretty sure that i will keep this beauty all original. I would love and ash/maple or puprpleheart Custom Shop thumb that is all passive
 
I like the vol-bal-tone set up.I you do swap out the pup and eletronics just same them.That way you can go back to stock and keep it original.
 
I'd do the passive if that's what you want to do. you can always put the pickups and EQ back in. It's not a permanent mod so why not?
 
IMO, the active preamp is an important part of the Thumb bass, but if you can afford the mod, why not? :lol:

I do, Greg. I really do love the soundof this bass. I am just wanting to explore the tonal possibilities of this amazing instrument.

Then I say go for it.You can always return it to stock if you dont like the result.
