LTD 2009 Question

It's pretty minor, but I have to be curious. Maybe someone knows or knows someone who knows...

My LTD 2009 has a 5-piece neck. It's maple, mahogany, ??, mahogany, maple. I'm very curious what the middle 'stripe' is. From a distance, it looks like maple, but I assure you that it is not. Anyone know what wood it is?
 
Just had a look at the woods listed in the Custom Shop and it almost looks like Karelian Birch, but I don't think that's it...
 
It should be maple. Maybe a piece with a slightly different colour, but still maple it is...

Well, it's not the color that's throwing me, it's the VERY busy grain. If it is indeed maple, I've never seen anything like it...
 
I can't get a picture that really shows the grain I'm talking about - but look at the bottom of this pic. Quilted maple, maybe?

Now that I'm home, I did some close comparison with the Custom Shop pictures. I think you're right, Florin. It looks closest to flamed maple A. Thanks, man.
