In the shadow of my recent purchase of a Vette $$5, GAS is there again. Seems it's latency.

Looking for a thumb and found this:



12 years old but looks good on the pictures. Is €1449 fair?

No, It's too high.
A good deal on a 4 strings Thumb NT should be under 1200 euro.

I bought 5 years ago my 1989 for 950 euro

It's about right at UK prices. I've just seen a 5 string thumb NT go for £1100.

Some would say (including me ) that the older thumbs with the wenge necks are more desirable anyway.

I would have to agree about the wenge necks being more desirable but Mr Rabble is usually dead on. If he says it's high, it's probably high. It still comes down to what is this bass worth to you? ...

Scubadriver, if you have a GAS attack for that Thumb, and you have 1500 euro, go for it!


On the other hand you live in Germany, there's plenty of great vintage Thumbs over here, I'm sure you can find a much better deal and save around 400/500 euro :wink:

Prices are usually higher in the UK than in Germany, or in Italy.
I often see great basses on Ebay.co.uk, but prices are almost every time too high

+ 1 on the Wengé neck, Bubinga+Wengé is as growly as hell :wink:
