Nobody really told me in the past how it is to be a musician... I thought it's like ... you know... all day music.
Here I am in the car driving all night long, between gigs. Again. Tomorow I have two of them, in two different cities.
I am staying in the car and thinking... I am a friggin truck driver!!!! I know all the roads with my eyes closed. My job is really driving the car. Then in the evening I play bass 90 minutes.
I'll be here until 9 am when I hope I'll be in my hotelroom :-)
How about you? Is everybody ok?
 
My job description? Too general to nail down mate. I'm an RN in an emergency department. Even the docs don't really know what we do specifically. :D
 
I'm in cell phone sales. I really hate it. People just don't seem to see you as human. For example, my manager was in the hospital with his son to make sure he was ok (the son who was 21 months). A customer wanted to talk to him about some piss-ant, minor issue. So she called his cell which in on our cards (unfortunatley). While his son was sick. *shakes head*.
 
I work around the apartment complex I live at.Coz I own the place,I'm responsible for maintenance.Also coz most of my neighbours are elderly & arent up to it,I inherited the job coz the previous person moved.It's part time,but I get to make my own hours & do the forum thing.When Zakk is a bit older,I'm going to get a real job.

Looks like me and you have the same job! :P

I'm apartment maintenance as well and live on site as well. Sadly when the smallest things break I have people at my door complaining. The emergency pager is fun as well... Not to mention being on call 24/7 and people showing up at my door at all hours of the morning!

But, It's nice cause I save gas... Some of the neighbores even like me :P

The pay isn't bad and it's a good day when I don't have to fix a toilet :P
 
whats a good first job, i need to be able to afford another warwick, so thats the money im looking to make, like a waiter at a fancy restaurant might work, any suggestions??

Warehouse worker... I always had the most fun working in a warehouse on a truck loading dock.

Just be a robot and move stuff :P

I don't like jobs where I have to think.

Luckily,I dont have to fix anything that's inside anyone's home.I only cover the common areas.If an elderly neighbour needs a washer or light globe changed,I'm happy to help out.I'm on great terms with all my neighbours,except one.There's always one dickhead in every complex.But luckily,they're renters & they wont be here for much longer. :lol:
 
I work at home too, I am a computer programmer. The home thing will probably change soon, as my boss will hire some space here in the city for work. It has its nice sides, as you don't have to move around in traffic, etc. Jump out of bed, into the screen. However my social life is cut down considerably. I used to tend to think of it as a good thing as the outside world is kind of a dog-eat-dog situation. I am not good at dealing with the lack of respect and often cruelty people treat each other with. But I'm afraid one has to face if or they 'll become a recluse, something like a wild animal in a cage. I sure feel a lot like this lately. Funny factoid is that most of the code I write is in a language called C#.

That's funny... But I use to be quite the recluse myself. I (for years) would sit in front of the computer screen being the linux nerd I'am. It was either coding linux or playing starcraft. Those were the good ol days :D

You a linux geek too? Man, that's amazing. What were you writing? Don't tell me you were a kernel hacking guru. :D I never went too deep myself, I used linux because I was just so bored with standard windows, I wanted to customize things MY way. Spent endless hours with linux. Now it's all MS due to work. I must admit they have done some excellent work in the field of development.

I did a little kernel coding for awhile... I was working on my own live cd entitled "Rednex" :P surprisingly enough not based on Redhat :P It was a slackware based livecd that was stripped down to the bare minimum with Gnome.

I was also contributing to Gyache for awhile working on getting webcams to run better with it. Along with Gaim webcam support.

But then I got married, moved up to Oregon and got out of the whole linux thing and spent more time with bass. Although now and then I'll boot into linux and play around a bit.
 
You shouldn't post and drive at the same time Florin...it's dangerous! :D

I'm starting university later this month...kind of a job seeing as the Danish government throws money at all students :D
 
I'm a science writer, I popularize international scientific reports...

I'm also a web designer, mainly overseeing the design aspects of the website I write for...

I'm also a photographer, mostly art nudes...

I'm also a fiction writer, I'm currently working on a sci-fi novel...

I'm also a dad of two, which by itself in a full time job...

So that's me: Jack-of-all-trades, master of none...
 
I am a Technical Consultant in the IT business, what i do is going to clients talking to them about their wishes, making a technical design of that, go back to the client and sell it to them. after they take the bite i am in control of building the stuff and sometimes a may do that for myself...

Its all in a days job but you don't hear me complain :)
 
I do freelance design (graphic and web), copywriting, photography and search engine marketing (optimisation and pay-per-click). I'm like a one man marketing agency! :D

Amusingly I don't have a website...I'm too busy doing sites for other people!

Florin - I can totally commiserate with you on the driving. I was pro for 3 years and gave it up because I couldn't hack the late nights and the driving. It's crap from that sense and the money isn't great unfortunately. :(
 
i help out in the family business which is an Agricultural Retail center. i have no specific job description, and my fave part of the job is when i have to drive in a car collecting bill payments, IOU's, etc.

the pay is very nice and i dont have to dress up for work *lol*

as for music, i have no plans in turning it into a day job. i love the freedom and presureless existence of not pleasing anyone other than your bandmates who happen to be your good friends too.
 
Im a Special Education Teacher for children with Severe Autism.

My job description is to educate them to the best of their abilities in not only academic skills, but also social/community/vocational skills. In addition my job also entails avoiding injury from said students :lol:

I am considering a career change in the near future, most likely into Law Enforcement (always been super interested in it, I just need to drop 45 pounds first so I can pass the physical tests, ugh)
 
I'm in IT operations. I monitor the data center making sure all the servers are working properly, if not troubleshoot and fix it. Not a hard job, if everything is working!

I'm in the restaurant industry and it nobody will hire a young person to be a waiter at a fine dining establishment. There's just way too much you have to know that you can only get by experience. The money can be very good, just like bartending, but nobody will take you without experience. Try starting somewhere smaller if you want to work up to that. Try working at a music store so you can get discounts. You may even be able to work the floor and get commission.
