Hello! Due to the fact I'm not able to sell my tube amps I'll sell a bass or two to make room.
This one is a very nice '87 JD Thumb, I got it in a sort of "package deal" some time ago but never gigged it.
I guess there's not much I can add to the description, you know these instruments well. The Bubinga wings have a nice "marble-like" grain and the Wengé is tight-grained without cracks. No issues, ready to play and has new strings on.
Only thing it needs: a new battery cover, I never had it, the previous owner lost it and I never ordered it from the Warwick shop :x
It comes with a Gator soft case (new) and will travel well packed and insurance.
Since it's from the first issue of the Thumb and due to the wonderful conditions it's in I'm after €1400 or best offer plus shipping (shipping within Europe is €50). I have feedbacks here, on other forums and on ebay... just ask if you want/need more informations. Payment by bank wire transfer or (if you're willing to split the fees) by PayPal.
I can even record a short audio clip if needed but the bass plays as good as it looks. The strings on it are nickel 40-100.
I think the Thumb and the Ibanez AFR are the best looking and feeling "commercial" instruments ever. But of course the Thumb wins in the sound department by a long way. :D

Yeah, why? As far as I know the bass is all original.



It's the usual cover I've always seen on these pre-90 basses, with the "Handmade in West Germany" script on.

I've received a few questions about the bass and they made me think I should have added a few informations...
The truss rod is fine, the frets are in good shape, the neck is straight, the electronics work. The bass has a very slim neck, the battery cover is the only "issue" (costs a few bucks in the Warwick shop). I always held the battery in place using a triangular pick :D
It's really a jewel, not easy to find such an old bass in these conditions. I have absolutely no problem recording a video with it or whatsoever. 8:
I'd keep it but really... I have no room left. I already have 6 basses, 4 amps, 5 cabs, 2 PA cabs, 2 power amps... and I always use the same one! :P
 
It's a lovely, lovely instrument. I'll pass on this occasion, so best of luck with the sale :)
 
That's a very nice looking bass - I like that is has the neck pickup straight and the bridge angled - I mainly use the neck pickup and not sure how long an angled one would take to get used to - Used to seeing thumbs with that pattern reversed
 
IMHO the Thumb offers its best with both pickups on, I've owned some that had more mids and so a better bridge tone but most of them are probably meant to be played with both pickups on or the neck one soloed. A bridge pickup placed so close to the saddles won't get a very wide strings "travel" and this makes the volume lower.

Nice bass Triad. You do not by any chance got a stacked pot volume knob exactly like the ones on the pics? Hard to find i should say
 
I had that controls layout on my first Thumb, an '89: volume and balance stacked, highs and lows on the other two knobs (if I remember correctly).
 
You have 5 basses that you prefer over this lovely thumb? I wonder...
