Now that I come to think about it... all my 5 string basses have an ash body.
The 8 string mahogany with a maple thru-neck, the Hyperjazz red cedar.

There is no bubinga here other then my hyperjazz fretboard. We're facing bubinga shortage at DiMarco estate!

Edit: Seriously Warwick are doing a 10000% better job.

The only serious headstock is the one of the '84 Streamer, when Spector tried to create the 'Spector headstock ' ;)

I found a NOS one in an Italian webshop. These are no longer being made, but I have always wanted to try one of these!
What I have heard is it can make your bass tone bloom when you put the gain at the edge of breakup. This is exactly what I am looking for.

First thing I noticed is the size of the pedal. It is MASSIVE for a compressor.
Then the character of it: Smooth, warm and indeed a bit of tube breakup if you set the gain on the edge of that.
This breakup sounds really nice when using just bass speakers, but through a tweeter there's a bit of fizzyness like with most real tube drive. If I want that oldskool slightly girthy tone I will simply have to not use any HF units that are in my speaker cabs.

I will report back when I compared and tested it within a band situation because compressors don't really shine until within the mix of instruments.
