I'm a little late - because it already arrived.

I always wanted to try a fretless - and I got some Thomann vouchers for my birthday. So I finaly orderd a Harley Benton Fretless.

    What an experience :)

The description was - ovangkol/maple neck and mahogany body with 24 fretlines.
I got an ovangkol body with a maple/mahogany neck without any fretlines

There are some parts of the bass, where you can see the low price - especialy the finish. But it plays ok (have to get used to not having frets - and no lines) and I have another project to play around with.
I have an older Glockenklang electronics lying around - so maybe play with that. And definitely a propper sanding.

After ordering it, I had to wait 10 days (it said "available") for the quality controll because the manufacturer doesn't do quality control - that's what Thomann said.

The most interesting part is, the neck gets wider at around the 12th fret (see picture 2 - upper left corner) - as I said, some sanding required.

    So here it is:

I know what you mean - particularly the cymbals and you know how those guitarists like to play loud-

So, I’m interested- I also have a pair of basic attenuators but would like something more selective-

Question- did you have to order them, and if so, did they provide guidelines for sizing?

    Sweet!!

Edit: that's weird that they would say the manufacturer doesn't do QA....I find that hard to believe ....but who knows???

I just ordered a Peavy Headliner 210 400w for band practice use to go with a seldom used Ampeg PF500

I normally have used the rental studios back line. But it seems we are moving away from that

I could use one of my Hydrives, but honestly I don't want to beat them up just for practice

These are a $199.00 new and Peavy's are pretty indestructible....hopefully I'll see it by next Fri.

As a note....I'm pretty frugal. So I think this is a good buy

It looks nice for the money-- be sure and let us know how well it sounds. What do you have in there, a set of 12's?

I sold such a cab three months ago. It was heavily damaged during transport. They can be destroyed. GLS refuses to cover the loss.

I had a Portaflex 115 with the PF500 with the Flip Top and matching Cab (2x115's) I used it for years for going around and practicing and for gig use. When I came across the Hydrives I sold the Portaflex cabs to help pay for em'

The Hydrives are so nice, and you guys know how it goes when hauling stuff around...it gets banged up.

I just wanted something I didn't care as much about if it got a dent, and I think this is a good fit

The money value is excellent! We talked about this in the band today. In the end we came to the conclusion, that for the six or maybe up to ten gigs each year we don’t need a second set of equipment. Actually I own at least three sets. Atm I try to sell some stuff. I want to buy stuff in 2018 too, you know. ;)

    Hey Hardy

Yeah I known man. I'm selling off stuff like I never have before.
I'm just down to 2 basses now and Gear I'm going to use on a regular basis....this was hard for me at first because I had a hard time letting stuff go...but now that I'm 50yo
I'm taking on a new leaf....i feel I'm a lot more practical in my gear...if I don' use it....it goes, no emotional attachment like when I was younger

those are the the times you will regret in 15-20 years when that old gear draws your sentimental self and offc, the enormous price increase of that old thumb 88...
