If you could only keep one...

To me, a bass you select if you could only keep one, and a "go-to" bass are not the same thing. My "go-to" bass is a SSII 5 string. It plays and sounds soooooo nice, and never disappoints. However, they are common enough that replacing it would not be an issue, other than coming up with the cash that is. If I had to thin the herd down to one single bass, it would be the 2014 Fortress LTD I bought here from taosbass. Whereas I prefer the sound of the SSII, the fortress plays like a dream, is drop dead gorgeous, and would be extremely difficult, and perhaps impossible, to replace. It's all a matter of perspective, and there is a strong dose of collector in my perspective.

Thank you! I wouldn't say beauty is its strongpoint however. The back looks pretty good but the front is a bit mismatched.
Later Ash Corvettes very often had very beautiful one piece bodies. Like the following one which I am also happy to own:

Another difference I didn't know was that older 90s Corvettes had slimmer bodies, and not that rounded.
I much prefer them. It's definitely a noticeable difference when you wear the bass.
 
This is easy for me - my '94 Streamer Stage II 5, which I purchased new in 1995. I have bought and sold about 80 basses in the last 30 years (including 30 Warwicks), but this one has always stayed with me. It is still the best sounding bass I have ever played. I have owned 6 different Streamer Stage II basses over the years and this one is the one that rules them all.
