you know, I have no idea ... I always put Rotosounds on my basses; round wound, stainless steal, as bright as I can get em. But I don't think that really is the right sound for a fretless. Any ideas anyone?

Well, shows how much I know, or more accurately, don't know. Just done some googling and I guess Rotosounds do sound good on a fretless. They are by far the string of choice on my basses and if they were good enough for Jaco, then hey, who am I to doubt them.... So I guess I will be putting a set of Rotosound swing bass 66s on it.

Roto's are pretty damn cool on any bass you may own.
DR lowriders feel even smoother on the fingers and still give you that roundwound buzz.

It doesn't matter all that much though. Either will be A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

Congrats Randy, the fretless Vette's are killer basses!
If you're going to play around with different strings then I would highly recommend checking out the Labella Black Nylon Tapewounds. It's a completely different playing experience for sure.... super mellow on the fingers, produce a great mwah, and they last forever too. Just my recommendation from one fretless player to another. Congrats again Bro!

The truss rod tool from my Streamer works fine with my RB 'vette. The small allen key you set the saddle pieces and nut heights with is the same as well. I guess you will be missing the 2.5mm allen key that raises/lowers and locks the whole bridge assembly, if the guy doesn't supply the keys for you that is.
