I bought a new bass today:







ca. 1920 3/4 size (probably) German flatback, solid woods.

Now I'm on the prowl for a Warwick 5-string...

I think they are Spirocore. I don't know what PU I want yet....could you recommend one? I'll mainly be playing jazz, pizzicato.

If you strung an upright lefty, you would get punched in the face. No joke. Also, how is a 80 some year old bass in that good of shape, mines not even two years old and its more beat up. As for pickups, if you're just playing pizzicato, i recommend the schaller magnetic pickup. that way you don't have to mess with preamp (its the same pickup they use on the triumph uprights). I've heard the realist is really good, even though its piezo, it still doesn't need a preamp. If you choose to go another route (fishman, K&K), most of those are piezo pickups, so you'll need a preamp to math the impedance levels so it doesn't sound shitty through your amp.

Can't recommend anything. Got no PUs on mine, as it's
just a practice beater. When I play out on 3/4 is an EUB :-)

Again, nuthin fancy. Palatino with whatever strings they use.

Really, for URB PU advice, it may be fun to ask here, but if
I were really gonna buy, I'd just call Gollihur and tell him as
best I can just what I wanna do, and he tells me what goes.

like PUs or strings ? Of course I've never
needed to know, for myself. He's only a
coupla hunnert miles from here .....

He's one upright dude [PI], so I'm sure
that if he knows who his doppleganger is
in the EUzone he would certainly be glad
to refer you there. Can't hurt to ask.
