+1 hehe.

Get to know your student and their "skills" and what not. Just get an idea of what they can do and want to do. That'll be a good start. Then just focus on the same things you focus on when you're playing - hows his fingering/technique etc....

I used to be a martial arts instructor about 100 years ago. What I can tell you is that the key to being a good teacher is to really get to know your students as people. Get to know where their strengths and weaknesses lie, this will help you in helping them. You will also find that with time, effort, care, and persistence that you will personally grow as well from this wonderful opportunity. Best of luck in your journey. :)

Thaz why you want plenty of students. You also learn from them, so you stay ahead cuz your students only have one, maybe two teachers while you have as many teachers as you have students. You steal something from each of them and share it all around to the rest [as if it were your own]. Thaz your mission !

John, that's good advice. I too am happy about Wazza's opportunity. 100 years ago? You're still a kid :D .

Peace,

Omar

I did a spell training to become a driving instructor (which was utter pants) and the only advice i can give is to be confident in your ability without showing off, and be prepared to listen to your students. The other obvious thing is to try to gauge each students ability and to keep it interesting. Good luck, hope it works out :!:
