Pondering the above, specifically the bridge pickup on my FNA Jazzman 5 versus the one on the Taranis 5- I notice the latter is basically a MM shape extended to 5 strings whereas the former is a different shape- is this just the cover or are they two different animals? Any information on impedances etc.?

In addition will I flatten my battery if I leave the hammer plugged in or is the EQ only operative when it has chunky phatness being jammed through it?

Probably two different threads, but hey. Economy is the watchword in these troubled times ;)
 
I can answer your second question only, battery will drain as long as the cable is in the output jack.
 
I should have just named this thread "Teyen's myriad stupid questions"... here's my latest search function failure:
What's the dark layer under the maple cap on my bass? I would guess at ovangkol from the little of the grain I can see but i'm not certain.
I'm also pondering a couple of other things, for one why MEC refuse to tell me why the Taranis neck pickup isn't listed for sale on their site, and for t'other whether I'd get away in the dim and distant future with a trans black refin without taking off 1/8 inch of wood all over the bass? :s

1. It's called ekanga which, if I remember correctly, is just a wood resin.

2. Maybe because the Taranis is discontinued? But that's just a guess.

3. That stain goes pretty deep, so I would not recommend it. But that's just an opinion.
