ive noticed some white muck has started building on my fretboard, looks like a combination between skin + dirt, im going to take off all my strings in a week or two, whats hte best tihng to get this off? some sort of steel wool and rub it off?

Steel wool will do the job correctly. Just make sure you cover your pickups with some sort of cloth when you do it, as sometimes steel wool lets some particles go off and they get attached to the magnets. And when you're done, just apply some lemon oil and rub off the excess with a clean cloth to the fretboard and it should look just like new.

I've used an old (but clean) medium toothbrush with lemon oil, to remove the muck (but not the funk) that caked on my fretboard for about 8 years. Did the trick, with a bit of elbow grease.
