How long do you keep your receipts? (Bass gear)

Wondering how long everyone keeps there receipts? Mainly the small stuff... I was organizing paperwork and found receipts from a couple years ago for strings! and a few straps, etc....

I usually keep a receipt for the strap that is currently on my bass, along with any accessories that I currently use. But am I the only crazy one who keeps a receipt around for awhile for just strings? and other small "goodies"?
 
I put them somewhere......................Then years later I find them and throw them away. It's pretty much with all kind of receipts I guess....... :roll:
 
I dump them all in a filing cabinet that hasn't been cleaned out in ten years :D

.....so - I keep them a long time.

;)
 
I keep the receipts for my basses and major gear in a folder for insurance purposes. Small stuff like strings and accessories aren't worth keeping receipts on, but I do keep the receipts for my Monster cables, since I can get them replaced for free if i ever need to, as long as I have proof of purchase.

+1 I do the same for my livewire cables...
 
i just throw them into my bottom draw and let them sit there, till i see them a couple of years later and go " shit did i really spend that much"
 
I have kept all receipts for everything I ever bought since 15 years. I keep them in a jar. I have a big jar.

BTW ... I never needed to dig out a single receipt in those 15 years.
 
I found the receipt for my Trace Elliot and Thumb bass the other day from 1994

Used AH300 - £350
New 1048H Cab - £400
Used Thumb Bass V NT - £900

All still going strong 14 years later with no issues so far. £1650 well spent IMO.
 
my dad has the receipt for the corvette and the streamer some where...but the warranty is gone and any return to GC is not gonna happen so they probably got thrown out. as far as cables and amps, the store i go to knows me so well, that they just deal with it, they know i bought it. and with cables, they send em in and get new ones, so it doesn't hurt them.

You never need a receipt for a Monster Cable. You can find on in the
street thaz been run over by a train, and you can trade it for new.

The one requirement is that you have more than half the length. The
length is marked on the cable's outer layer. It's not an unfair rule. OW
you could by one cable, sever it in two, swap both sections for new
cables, wash, rinse, repeat. If you did this everyday for a few weeks,
there is not enuf copper on the planet to keep up with you [really, do
the math] ....... and you only ever paid for the first cable :-O

Haha! That is true - as long as you bring them a used cable, they'll replace it. My GC purchases are also in their computer. But I thought you had to have both plugs on the Monster cable to get a replacement? So then I couldn't do the 2-for-1, 4-for-1, etc. deal that would make my room a mess, ut keep me stocked in Monster Bass cable replacements! :lol:

I do not keep recepits ... well they make it home an they end up i guess inside the dryer at the black hole where all the socks go that disappear and you end up with only 1 sock at the end of the washing/drying ordeal! :lol: :wink:
 
Hi Guys. :)

Seven years is my general rule, especially since I write everything off when doing my taxes. If I'm not audited for seven years, chances are good I won't ever be.

Considering I don't have any independent financial responsibility yet, I don't save receipts so carefully. I do however keep random keepsakes of the purchase, I'll keep the price tag on my instruments, along with any promotional material that may be attached to my amps.
