Not been online a great deal lately, I'm still around tho no worries... Spending more time making music then talking about it which I suppose is a good thing.

Besides this I sensed the atmosphere on the forum changing as Warwick became aware of the power of the internet and are now using the forum to its full potential more or less with them banners and all. This means besides being a hangout for us players it has also become more a means of propaganda. I still have to get used to this but Warwick are very right to make better use of their forum space. I suppose it has become more like other brands forums the way it is meant to be...

BUT I miss the old black n yellow times where the forum was purely an informal hangout where caring people helped eachother out and I miss that "Warwick family" feeling completely in here nowadays. I also miss Flo's enthousiastic kindness filled answers to questions which partly got replaced with Garey's correct but largely uniform way of producing answers. It all feels more professional now but in all honesty (no offense Garey I know it is your job to do so!) I do not like it. The sense of a community driven thing is slipping away imho and this is bad.

Is it just me or did more people notice this climate change on the forum?

I know what you mean Marco... I think there is a climate change on the forum, but I don't think it's bad. I still get the family feel here, but it is becoming more professional and polished. It certainly is quite evident that Warwick are moving into some very active marketing strategies. For me at least I don't find it any less personal though; all of the good folk are still here, and we can continue to contribute as a family. I think the evolution of the forum is nice, because it's brought about by the growth of Warwick and Framus, and that's a very good thing... More of our beloved instruments in the world. I support that! :D

I haven't really noticed a change of climate, rather a change in attendance. The chatbox used to be much more busy, you could get an answer att pretty much any given time of the day.

I have noticed it. I won't mention what drives me to check this place less and less, but you mentioned many of them in your post

The sense of community will only slip away if the community members slip away. This doesn't have anything to do with a forum skin, banners, forum sponsorship or marketing strategies.

After all, guys... Warwick is a business, but we can have all the community we like; it's here for all contributors.
 
This forum is still our forum, and it is exactly what we are doing with it. we are the community, and the sckin and two small banners will not change it :)

You should know that I am still here, but I have less questions to answer :) Many of them are answered already on the forum, so people are happy using the search function, so we don't need to answer to the 'wenge vs ovankol ' thread again :)


I am here, we are here, let's keep our forum as we like it. Garey is one of us. Bass player, hard working guy, really helpful, a really kind person.

So... What do you think we should change to improve our forum? If you want the black skin back, we should do a poll, and return to black :) I kinda misse that too.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think he means literally bring the old skin back. I think he meant metaphorically he misses the old days of the forum.

Forums change and grow. I think this forum has grown to one that is mature with many, many great people and tons of useful information. This forum is probably the most civil and helpful community I've ever been a part of.

I've been on the other side of forums for years, managing them, and I've seen them become more commercial with sponsors, banners, and such. Many of the users of those forums had the same concerns that some of you do here but in the end it just became part of daily life and everyone got used to it and realized it wasn't that big of a deal. The community kept going and continued to grow. I'm seeing that happen here. That being said, I'll admit, at first I wasn't real fond of having a Warwick spokesman stepping into every thread and having banners promoting products we already know about. I felt it took away from the community feel. You have to realize however that us die hard Warwick players aren't the only people visiting this forum and honestly, it's not such a bad thing having someone working for the brand speaking to this community directly. Try getting this level of interaction with other companies.

I joined the forum staff a number of months ago (thanks to Jester) and I know I've spent a vast number of hours, on my personal time, trying to make this forum better for everyone. I do it because I enjoy coming here and wanted to help make it better. I'd like to think that with Marco's help and others that we've had some success with that. What do you guys think? Is there something that we're missing or not doing that would make this forum even better yet?
 
Apologies if my previous post came off a bit egotistical, was not my intention. :x This forum wouldn't be here if it weren't for Flo and everyone else that helped get this forum off the ground.
 
We all are the forum. This community is made by us... Garey is the guy inside simply answering to inside questions, where is the propaganda, coz I don't really see one. everything is the same.
If the forum atmosphere is going down because we have two small banners, then I cann tell you that "vibe" was pretty fragile to start with.
I don't believe that. I like the forum, with ups and downs, and I've been here for a while to see the same things repeating.

Marco, I love you, you help us a lot, I love the new forum skin made by you, but I don't really think this thread is any help. It is OK to feel that way, if that's how you feel, but bringing this up in this way, especially as moderator, simply makes the vibe even worse.

This is the Warwick forum, I am still here. we can do the vibe as we like, it is our home. This thread is creating a bad vibe by itself IMHO. If you feel like taking a break for the forum, this is OK. Playing bass more than talking about it is awesome, I am actually doing this right now. But don't blame us for your general mood, because right now I have the feeling that you are pushing the bad vibe to the forum...

Times change, old members go, people talk less, because Facebook changed ideas with likes and shares.
But new members also join the forum every day. and what they find? This thread, and similar chatbox discussions. And you complain that the vibe is not like it used to be? Doh!!!

Just feel good, share, and bring sunshine to this grey internet world, and the forum will be better :) That,'s it!

Actually, it does. IMHO these giveaways, for example, only being in people who want to win crap. It doesn't necessarily make more, productive members of the forum, but in many cases more leeches.

As for all the banners, it's like the newest craze, this thing called the Internet, has hit Warwick and what is needed is a highly visible presence that is overbearing (like the old days of the Internet were the most important thing was web presence, not quality of content)
 
I don't think the give-aways are bringing in a horde of leeches ;) I think Warwick are implementing a very clever and (I hope) successful social media marketing strategy.

You're right; the Internet is a very different place to what it was five (even two) years ago. In order for Warwick to be successful in this age they will need to play a modern business game, which is what they seem to be doing, and I'm happy about that.

The underlying truth is that our forum is made up of community members like you and I and it will be only what we make of it.

I love it. For various reeasons I've had a couple of periods where I haven't posted much for a while, but even after a break when I come back it still feels like a family (more so than any other forum!), and I'm thankful for that.

as a recent returnee to the forum following my rediscovery of playing music (albeit not brilliantly), i enjoy this forum and appreciate evrybody on it who replies and adds to its presence in a +ve manner. i love the fact i can ask a question or research a question on all things warwick and bass related. keep on keeping on!
 
Forum teething

Flo don't take it so personal I'm not blaming anyone for anything, just sharing with the community how I feel about the forum becoming more professional and asking if I am the only one missing the old days from when before the forum started teething. You can call me a sentimental fool but again, I am not putting the blame on anyone.

Still love being here its just different that's all. Guess Warwick company is growing like the forum is, and the line of products. Broader range of instruments etc.

In my original post I did state Warwick is right in making their internet comms more professional. Sorry if I have offended you.
 
No Marc, you didn't offended me, and I am sorry if my post seemed harsh, coz I didn't wanted to :)
But think about this : when you joined the forum, older members left already because the forum was not as good as before, and they miss the old times, etc :) so this story always returns. I guess it is only about keeping nice relations between us, and it is not easy. The forum was the same before, people were acusing me I was Warwick official voice, now it is Garey :)

we are the forum, let's feel good :)

I am opening a losing weight thread now :)
 
Gentlemen! I'm not an 'oldman' here, but I do love this forum. It's simply great to talk to people here, share and learn. All of you are really smart and experienced persons and I highly appreciate this established community. Everyone is polite and ready to help. The forum itself is well constructed, simple, native navigation and search. It's handy:)
Administration is amazing (thanks to Florin and someone with "Warwick official" nickname)! If there were times with better climate, that was because the number of members wasn't that big. You had some kind of close friends' chat, I suppose... May be I'm wrong, but anyway, many thanks to all of you, old residents of Warwick forum!
I've already used to look through the forum from time to time while going somewhere. I've never been so much involved into I-net communities of any kind. Good or bad to me, but it's true;)
