Help needed EQ'ing a Corvette

I recently scored a Corvette Proline off ebay and I'm a little surprised by the tone of it to be honest!

My previous bass was a Musicman Active SUB (cheaper stingray essentially) and it seems at first play that the Proline has a much less "lively" sound than the SUB.

I was expecting a more growly tone that was more cutting but at the moment the tone, while it sounds really good in its own way, is not what I expected.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to EQ my amp and the bass itself to get a more "lively" sound?
 
Try raising the pickups closer to the strings, as a start...I find most warwicks seem to lose a lot of thier 'bite' when pickups are too low.
 
Try to put on new strings, if they're new (there is a slight chance they're defect and dead from the factory, this should get you a new set from just about any string producer) try raising the pickups as suggested above :)
 
Its hard to know what you mean by "lively", but my suggestion to you is to try out a Thumb. It has the signature "cut through" that you are looking for. I have never owned a 'vette, but from what I have read, they are better at blending in that cutting through - which is why I chose the Thumb.
 
Any bass will sound bad with a poor setup. Are you sure all is ok ?? As mentioned above, pickup height is pretty important.........

P.S. I don't think that the Proline produces the "typical" Warwick growl from what I've read here.
 
and also recognize that you purchased a proline, it's one of the more modest warwicks! It is supposed to sound the closest to a jazz out of all the warwicks. I'd check out a bubinga vette if you want a corvette and want the growly mids that wicks are known for.
