HELP! How do I make & order my bass?

So I have an Idea of what I want my bass to look like and what it has and everything. But the only problem is:

I don't know where to oder everything...

I mean I go to the Custom Shop but what do I do? Buy the parts separatley and build it at home? Buy it at a store?? Go to a website and select the parts I want and have them build it or what???

Can someone help me please?

(Preferably someone who has bought and made a custom bass before [from warwick])
 
You have to go through a retailer, who will transmit your specs to Warwick and will give you a price quote. Then pay, wait, and in a couple of months, you'll have your custom shop bass! :)
 
yes look for the dealer you have locally or call some of these dealer who are also forumers here to get a price from them.

Indeed - I had to wait for 4 months for my Warwick Custom Shop bass, but the wait is worthwhile I can assure you ;)

When you think about it - a few months is actually a very quick build for a custom bass.....many other custom bass builders have lead times much longer than that.

Only thing is that I don't really have the money to buy a warwick :'( I don't have a job either (I'm 15) What should I do?
 
Take out a mortgage under your parents name or sell your body. Thats how I own 4 of them.

ps-I'm joking to all the stiffs out there.

Then placing a custom shop order is a little premature eh.My advice is;finish school,get a job & be good to your mother. :wink:
 
Yeah Greg is right. Save up and look on e-bay. Be careful not to get screwed there though. I bought two of my Wicks on e-bay and had great experiences with it both times. I got a next to new Wick for cheap and they came quicker than you would ever get ordering one. CS are hard to save up and wait for but well worth it.

There's a couple of us on this forum that will mock up an image of your CS for you so you can at least have a picture of it to look at while you save up. Send me a PM of your CS ideas and I will mock up a pic. for you. Be sure to include every detail of the CS.

Get a part time job, work hard and start saving.

When you have enough money saved, order the bass of your dreams.

When it arrives, enjoy it.

Wait, get the financial bit up and running, and buy yourself a nice Warwick-model (not CS) at first. You don`t mention if you have owned or tried any Warwicks before, it`s not just the looks that count. It would suck to order a 4000$-model, just to find out it wasn`t your thing.

Corvettes, standard and $$, come at a nice price brand new, and is withing range for most people. These are also easy to sell, if you should ever come to that point.

Or try out a Rockbass.
If I'd bought a Rockbass as my very first bass it would have saved a lot of pain (and money)

+1 to the rockbass advice, best starter bass ever.
 
And you can even keep it as a back up if you decide to move on to a "big" Warwick. Some people are just happy to stick with the Rockbass... I was until I found this forum and got GAS!

Hey saxonbass - a little OT, but I notice in your sig you have a Rockbass Streamer 4 fretless.

That's one model I've been considering but can not ever find in stock to try.

How do you like it?

I've said this before... but... one of the reasons I bought it originally (I was looking for a fairly cheap fretless) was because it was so incredibly easy to play... it does have the most amazing neck and action! The other rockbass I later bought wasn't quite as good. so I don't know if this was a one-off!

I find the tone is a bit limited, there are about two useful tones... but bear in mind, even with the "amazingly versatile" $$, I still tend to stick with one tone that I like... that's just me! It's also a bit low output, but that shouldn't be a problem with the right amount of gain... it's def not a problem through my EBS microbass II... it's a monster! I've got it strung with flatwounds at the moment... as it's my passive "mwaah" type fretless... but I plan to put some EMP strings on it one day - which should make a real difference!
 
Wow this is a lot of good advice. I'm not really a beginner, but then again I'm starting to do slap and pop. I've been playing for 2-3 years now, and I have a:

I dunno what, it's really really old, my first bass, my uncle gave to me, probably 20 something years old, no brand name and really beaten up.

Harley benton, German Fender copy.

Ibanez GSR 200FM Blue <--- My favorite.

All fretted and 4 stringed, I have a grudge on 6 strings, and I'm ok with 5 strings, but watevs. I'll upload some pics.

My Amp: Fender RUMBLE 100W

And I love warwicks...


I'm also getting an internship at ebay this summer but I'm not sure if i'll get paid... So in a month or so ebay might be a bit different looking... :D
I'll probably get a job at gamestop or someplace I'm still loking around, I'll definatley save up, I'm kinda brok cause I bought my new laptop recently...

Yeah - I had two RB Streamer fretted 4s actually ;)

Loved them both and shouldn't have sold them.

I know about the tones and low output from the pups. I love the tone, and I'm not fussed about the low output - that's what the gain knob is for ;)

Just interested to hear how it sounds fretless...

Any chance of a sound clip?
