No links, a bit more generic, I'm sure some of you have discovered this already. Every year for ER nurses week our docs give us something, they try to make it useful rather than frivolous. Last year they gave us a small Leatherman type tool, it's about 4" long when folded up. I had no idea what to use it for.. Recently when restringing my RB Fortress I found a whole slew of uses. This thing would be all you need on the road.

The wire cutter on the pliers cut the strings to length without blinking, found the tuner was a tad loose, judicious application of the pliers to the retaining washer, all fixed. The strap button was loose, no problem, got a Phillips screwdriver right here! Every minor thing handled with one tool, that goes in a little pouch, perfect for chucking in your case.

If this is redudant please forgive. If not, I'd recommend one to everyone. And you don't need a Leatherman or Gerber brand, one of the cheaper brands will do everything you need.

oh! why ddnt anyone just say "swiss army pliers"

in here they have a lot of silly stuff... like an axe that turns into a hammer *lol* or those self defense knives with a spoon and a magnifying glass on them ... and all of them are all under .99 cents
 
It's definitely not a redundant post Doog. This is typically one of those "you have to have experienced to realise" things. 8)
 
i have a cheap one of these. indeed, its massivly useful. that and my screwdriver handle with a set of ends :D

The tool that Doog sounds like he is referring to could well be either a Leatherman PST or KICK. The cheaper reproductions that you can get are OK in an emergency but if you are investing in one for your gigbag or case I'd go for the Leatherman or Gerber items, they will literally last a lifetime. The great thing is that not only are they great for fixing your gear (or the singers mic stand because he's a lazy s*d) but they are handy for fishing, cycling, photography, camping, walking, motorcycling etc.

... ooops I can go on about these things a bit as I've loved them to bits since I discovered the USA Leatherman brand some years ago :oops:
 
And all the allen keys and screwdrivers you need for the bass! I'd buy it
 
Hard to say what mine is it just says EPIC on it, that's the doctor's group who work our ER. The box had a name on it, but when I looked it up it was a company that does personalized stuff, where they source the gear I don't know. It's certainly solid.
