Funky , eh?

Well, I guess Streamer is quite slappable, and the Thumb of course. What I can say is that my slapping sucks on the Vampyre, but that`s more Me than the bass.
 
I play mostly R & B and blues.

If you grew up playing funk on Fender Jazz Basses like I did, and want to upgrade to something much hotter, get yourself a Thumb Bass.
It takes that burpy single coil sound to a whole new level.

Then I would say the Streamer Stage I 4 string.. The P-pickups is great for slaping and the Jazz pickup for Finger Funking..
 
I would have to agree with Marc on this one. The jazz pickup gives you a great classic sound for fingering style and you balance them correctly you can get great attack and punch from the P-Style pickups.

I'll agree to that as well. My Thumb bass has the P/TJ configuration, and it sounds amazing when I slap and pop that sucker, better than on my FNA Jazzman.

I did, and it was only by the purest luck I happened to get it too. The one I have is one of two Dirty Blond's Warwick brought to the 2006 NAMM show in California (and incidently, is the very one pictured on the New Products section of Warwick's site), and both went to BassCentral after the show.

I wasn't at the show and hadn't heard of the 2006 models. I just happened to call BassCentral shortly after the show to order a Thumb 2003 LTD edition, but they were sold out and the sales guy said "Well, I've got a 2006 limited edition..." so I got that instead. He emailed me later that day and told me that he had just found out that line hadn't been released yet.

I reccomend the Thumb, Dolphin and Streamer from my own experience, It should be which Warwick basses are not good for slap?, im sure you could get a pretty decent slap tone out of most of the basses warwick offer.

By the way, has anyone got any images of any of MEC's pickups without the covers?

I understand that the "J" pickups are actually a stacked humbucker, but I'm interested in getting a look at one without taking one of my basses apart.

If the pickups don't get in your way the $$ vette sounds great for slap & pop.

Corvette Standard (Ash body) Active 4 string is a funk/slap monster. Gotta have that Ash baby.

Hey Thumperton,

I've asked for others to post images of MEC pickups in the raw before, but haven't had any responses. For sure, if I do see anything I'll pass it along.
Warwick seems pretty tight-lipped about what they put in these things.
 
i found my streamer lx to be a bit of a let down for slap, finger play it was superb, nice and round with a lot of attack when you dug in, my corvette $$ however is an all round allstar, sounds superb for slap and finger stuff!
