Fretless Rockbasses

I've been really wanting a fretless, and not having enough spare cash to warrant a german one, I'm thinking about a Streamer LX fretless 4, in vintage white.

Has anyone got a white rockbass fretless (any model)? love to see some pics!
 
mmm i've only got some of my old RB streamer i had ages ago....but it was a clearish black colour...all i'll say is that the RB are damn good and the fretless ones are seriously good value, tbh i'd take one over a standard fretless corvette...
 
Don't think you'd go far wrong. Mine is black and a bit older, but I assume quite similar. The body is less contoured than the Warwick Streamers (that would be expecting a bit too much for the price) but you get a tigerstripe ebony board. When I tried mine out, it was streets ahead of similar priced fretless basses. I'd like to try out the LX and see (hear?) what the p-style pick up is like!
 
Personally I prefer the dual 'bucker Streamer Rockbass but either way you'll get a nice fretless.

The Rockbass fretless necks are really nice.

My old fretless Rockbass Corvette was gorgeous.

hmmm, so could you guys post some pics of those fretless RockBasses here? Please? I'm also thinking about getting one, and it's nearly impossible to see one anywhere. I've only seen the fretless RB Fortress on the W website and a black 5str fretless RB Corvette somewhere here on the forum.

Please?
 
Sure such - no sweat.

These are the pictures of the old Rockbass Corvette Fretless I had :)

It started out life as High Polish Nirvana Blue, but after putting a chip in the finish I decided to strip it and have some fun with it.

It ended up with a nice Natural oil finish - bloody beautiful.

I didn't touch the neck though - the neck as you see it in the pics was as it came. The Rockbass Fretless Necks are great :D

I ended up selling it, as as nice as it was I found the body to be a bit light - prefered the weight of my Streamer at the time.

Wowee! Eberbachl... that's an amazing looking Rockbass!

And you're right... the fretless Rockbass necks are superb!

As for pics... if I haven't already got some already I'm afraid you may have to wait a while... I've broken my ankle (see "instant Karma" thread for more details) so everything is quite literally a pain at the moment. Probably some nice pics in the Warwick Catalogue if you can find one!

Eberbachl - it's a shame you live so far away... I have to sell a bass pretty quickly, I'm sure I could get a better price for it if you made the pictures. They should hire you for the catalog.
 
Mine was same as saxonbass's one but only a 5 string.....trying to find my old pics but they don't appear to be on my main comp :shock: will have a look through my old lappy see whats what.

me too!

but I can see you really know how to use the light. I know how to use it to make someone's face look better, or to make a female form look slimmer, or male form - stronger. I just can't make my basses look sexy on photos... :oops:

That's a really nice bass. The first pic looks like it's got some kind of crazy finish on it - until I realised it was the carpet's reflection!

I'd like to try the LX against the Streamer Std, but I've been after a bass with a P pickup, so the LX is prob what I'm after.

I've also seen advertised vintage white rockbasses, but never seen a pic or one in the flesh - do they actually exist?

I reckon the Rockbass Streamer LX in white, with the tigerstripe board would be the Lex Pimp Bass on a budget!
 
hell yeah, it would cost like 1/6th of what one of lex's bass'es does.
 
Woody, the price of buying a rockbass and getting it fretted would cost the same if not more as buying a brand new corvette.

Nah - here I reckon you could buy a Rockbass fretless and have it fretted for under a grand.

($700 for rockbass + $300 +/- for fret job).

A new Corvette has a RRP of $2600 - but will run you about +/-$2000 street price.

;)

Not that I'm about to buy a fretless Rockbass and have it fretted, but it could be done if you wanted a fretted with an ebony board.

Yeh... I'd rather like a finish like that... it's a bit like the paisley telecaster that fender do... only in black :lol:

I have a Thumb Dirty Blonde that was de-fretted and it has a P/TJ setup. The P-pup really helps bring out some of the snap when popping on the fretless - think Pino Palladino on Paul Young's No Parlez album, or Bakithi Kumalo on Paul Simon's Graceland. And it's funny, because when I try to slap and pop on the fretless with my TJ bridge pup, the pops turn into thuds, but when I use the neck P, the "slap-n-slide" really comes alive and funky!

Even the neck J pup on my Corvette Std. fretless can't give me the "spank" I get from the P-pup. Perhaps the maple neck on my Dirty Blonde is a big factor too, and the RockBass will give you that as well. I think you'll LOVE a RockBass Streamer LX fretless! :D
