So, Framus are not coming along to the new forum ?

A lot of Warwicks out there. I believe "warwickbasses" is the only brand name we can not use. Is it right Hardy, you are a lawyer ?
It is most important the domain name contains the name Warwick. Because of future new users.

So Flo, Henrythe8 gave good idea, but do we need to "discuss with HPW, at least to allow us to use a derivative name (like WarwickOwnersCLub, WarwickPlayersArena, Warwickians Vibe Zone... )" ??? I don't think so. No one have exclusive right on "Warwick" word.

I suggest other domain name, the one that will contain the magic words we all recognize:
warwick.forum.com

There have been discussions with the people st Warwick. We are doing our best to work with the hand we are dealt. We also do want to keep a positive relationship with here, which means compromises in places. Flo knows my position on a lot of this, but at the end of the day, we have to do what's right for us now and the future.
 
i really don't understand why W(HP) don't want to have "official forum" anymore and we can't use dns-name "forum.warwick.de"?

I'd tell you my opinion, but then there would be an additional stipulation to this forum from the powers above: remove BA2 from being able to access it completely.
 
Anything.warwick.de would be more hassle to maintain for technical reasons. (DNS zone administration and SSL certificates would still have to be managed by the W company).

Warwick gain more from ads on sites like Talkbass and their spamming images on Facialbook. Let's face it our small, tight and knowledgeable community isn't of much value marketing wise but to a handful of guys like yourselves.

HPW could have simply unplugged the forum and be done with it. Instead, he allows us to maintain what has been built up for a decade through Florin, for which we owe him our grattitude.

That said, Warwick is a region in the U.K. so technically we're free to use the name in our URL as we bloody well please. Because we're decent people we respect HPW's wishes and Flo decided not to include the W word.

We can use Warwick logo and images inside our forum, and forum.warwick.de will continue to redirect here.

At the end of the day I am pretty sure we will still get support from them when we will ask, but now this forum is totally separating from Warwick Company, and we have to accept that.

I am pretty sure the changes will be positive for us!

I know. The truth is Framus is a small part of this community, and we don't have enough knowledge to properly manage a guitar forum. This is a bass forum, always was, and we added a Framus part as well. Framus built basses as well. I think it is important for us to define ourselves a a bass forum, because that's what we are.
 
Nice. It's important that new W owners would know the existence of this forum and all the knowledge and experience shared within it all along the years.

It was great for me to find it when I bought my first W, and I've found help and good advice many times on this forum.

I'd like others to have that too, if possible.
 
Will the old threads be converted, or are we starting from scratch?

I am a newbie here, and absolutely not trying to stir up trouble, but the name Warwick is not strictly associated with the guitar builder we all know and love. There are cities, schools, streets, and a whole lot more using the Warwick name. I would respect Mr. Wilfer's wishes to the utmost, since he can pull the plug on the forum if he so desires, and he clearly deserves all our respect regardless. However, the Warwick name is widely used by other entities already. Just an observation.

EDIT: Ooops, just noticed 11080's post covering this same topic. My bad.........sooooooo many posts to read. Hey, a poor excuse is better than none.

I have had the same experience here. I have frequented numerous bass related forums on the internet, and this one is the best by a wide margin. Lots of useful info and helpful members, and very little in the way of bickering and trolling. I would really like to see that continue. For myself, and those "others" you speak of.
