Hi all, my names Adam and I'm from the United States. I recently purchased a used 2006 corvette double buck in nirvana black. The previous owner took good care of it, but not that great of care. I can tell the neck and body haven't been well maintained. After purchasing it I changed the strings and put in a new battery. It sounds and plays great though I did adjsut the string spacing some.

My question is what do I treat the black stained swamp ash body with, and onvokal finger board?

I read use this, use that, don't use this, don't use that. Well there has to be something I'm supposed to use on the oil finish. I can tell its already starting to fade in places and I want to keep it from fading any further.

I was going to order new strap locks in black since the ones i got with it are chrome and want black ones, and get the warwick care kit which my bass did not come with, but shipping to the US costs more than the items do.

Don't put anything on the body, since it's finished. For the neck, most of the time, hand oil is enough but if you want lemon/linseed oil is good for the neck or the fretboard.
 
Hey Angry & welcome.
The fading may be because a previous owner waxed the body,not knowing the result.You can however,wax the back of the neck occasionally,but like flipper said,it's not critical.You can clean the fingerboard with a little lemon oil when you change strings or every 3 to 6 months,but again,it's not critical.
There's a Dunlop guitar polish,I think it's called "guitar honey",that you can safely use on the coloured oil finish,but it's probably best to just wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Which leads me to comment, Flo, is there ANYTHING Warwick might do that would PREVENT people from abusing their oil finishes? Maybe include a GIANT frikkin' "DO NOT WAX THIS BASS" hang tag or something?

Seems too many people just don't get it, and would just as soon destroy their axes.

(But then again, I hate the colored oil, and don't dig on the sand blasted look either. Maybe it'd be cheaper to do away with them as opposed to pay for new hang tags. ;) :lol: :P)
 
gotta say i thought you were s'pose to wax oil finished basses....lucky mines a varnished beasty lol
 
I did wax my Streamer STD, even though it's blue oil, why? It was so friggin filthy I really have nothing to lose, it did remove a LOT of grime, the cloth wasn't worth cleaning after. No way to make the finish look any worse. It's faded too, but I think it sat in the window of a music store for close to a decade.

with thin oil finish was like blue jeans ....
not spozta look too new when really new
.... and spozta look a whole lot less new
really quick. Some sorta EZ2Mojo finish.

yeah i guess i wount worry about its fading, as it is giving it that roadworn/well used look some people go for.
