Finding that SS II growl...

What frequencies do you think highlight the Streamer Stage II best?

People like Dirk Lance and PNut have found it (or rather their engineers did). Where do you think it is?
 
SS2 + the amp turned up LOUD + good technique should create an amazing amount of growl on its own... :wink:
 
Streamer Stage II "growl"

I've just been experimenting with that same question.

I just got a new rig and I actually find that the best growl for my SSII is with everything set flat, contour up and on-board preamp dimed.

Maybe its just my ears, but this simple set-up really hits the sweet spot for me. The Eden puts out amazing tone as it is, and the bass is so well thought out (construction, woods, pick-ups) that "flat" with a little extra fiddling really give me a great growl!

I agree my Eden cab really helps out a lot in this tone quest. What amp are you running through it? Is that Peavey 700 your amp, or is it a bass (I'm assuming amp)?

That topic actually helped me out a lot. I really liked the 4khz setting, but it's not the exact frequencies I'm after. I think I'm hearing more of a mid sound with the right amount of treble in this song.... You can hear it in the last track of the Make Yourself CD by Incubus. It's called Out from Under.

Yes, the Firebass 700 is the amp (head). Its fairly simple as far as EQ goes. Its a solid workhorse with lots of power and great tone. It matches both of my main basses very well, and seems to agree with the Eden cab too!
