After waiting for about 4 years I got my Warwick Thumb! I recall I first heard Ryan from Mudvayne play live and the sound was awesome and from that point on I knew I wanted a Thumb... So last month I find out I have saving bonds and theyre mature and can be cashed... So I cashed them, Ran out and got me a Warwick Thumb bolt on 6 string with 20mm spacing. And it's awesome! Up until now I've been playing my first bass... A washburn xb125 which I had defretted and carved the body out to resemble a Thumb. Surprisingly my wife was all for it and didnt have a single complaint about me forking out $1,900 on it. I also got an Ampeg ba115t combo (sounds pretty sweet with my thumb running through it)

I've waxed it a few times but noticed the wax makes it kinds sticky... On my other bass I used linseed oil for the raw wood finish and it worked great, The wood even when dry was very glossy and nice looking. I'm wondering if anyone used anything other than the warwick wax on theyre bass?

Nice one. I remember having a poster of a Thumb and Streamer on my bedroom wall in 1986, I got my Thumb in 94 and have just bought a Streamer which I should receive in a few weeks.

Best bass I've ever owned, and the best £1000 I've ever spent.

I know what you mean about the Warwick Surface Finisher, I got mine oiled with Teak oil and it hasn't needed waxing in the past few years. It's going back for a top up next month.

This is the condition of mine after teak oil. it was oiled 5 years ago and had no treatment since...

ooo nice :D

I've used teak oil before on my washburn and it made it a lil sticky also... I've used boiled linseed oil since then and it works pretty good... I usually oil it about once a week for a few weeks then it doesnt need it again for awhile... Atleast thats how it was with my washburn (alder/maple)

I was wondering, Does anyone know when the just-a-nut 3 is suppose to be out? Someone at dana b goods told me itll be out soon... But no real date on it. I'm hoping to upgrade the just-a-nut 2 to the 3 (I dont like the plastic on the one I have now.

Congrats on the Thumb & welcome mate.
The JAN@ is graphite/teflon,not plastic. As for your bass I think maybe your using a little too much wax possibly.I've found if I apply the wax with my bare hand I apply too much & cant quite buff it all off leaving a dry white residue.I found using a cloth to be a much better proposition, & is easier to buff off.
cheers.

out of curiosity, can we see a pic of your Washburn?

a few pics of my thumb... dont mind the last one... I think my ferret likes it too.

As for the response about the nut, I heard from dana b goods they will be coming out with a brass version of the just-a-nut 2. The plastic peice I was talking about is the peice under the nut that keeps it from moving back and forth. I was cleaning up my bass about 2 weeks ago and the lil clip broke off and had to order a replacement. I'll be happy when the brass version of it is out.

I'll try to post a pic of my washburn, At the moment I'm fiberglassing the body and am going to add piezo pickups in it something a lil slicker looking...[/url]

The JAN2 base is Wilferite too mate. I hope I aint being picky but I just like Warwick owners to know.
