Favorite Warwick Model - Did we already do this? :P

Can't remember if we already did this thread? But What is your favorite Warwick model? And why?

Mine as usual is the Thumb BO, Gotta love the small body shape which fits me perfectly... The tone as you know is awesome... And I gots long fingers for the 6 string bn is a must... And the BO for the snappyness of the tone.

Second up would have to be the Fortress...
 
I came into the Warwick family because I was looking for a bass that had the huge tone and punch of my Wal basses, but with better playability and lighter weight. The $$ was my answer, especially the $$ NT. I suppose my signature makes that obvious...
 
Yeah, I think there has been several threads like this before but I'll participate :).

I would have to say Thumb, both BO and NT.

I know that they are both two different basses but from what I have heard of the NT and I own a BO they both sound and look amazing.

For the sound of why its my favorite is because of the incredible GROWL and sustain. I love how all Warwick's sound but the way the Thumb cuts though and has a growl but can have a crisp and sharp sound too it just wins my heart :).

For the look and feel its by far the most comfortable. The small body and contoured shape just fits me perfectly I don't care for large bodied basses and haveing the small body that the Thumb has is great. The smooth curves and stubby horns on the bass just make it the most sexy bass ever! :lol:

For my second favorite would have to be a tie between the Infinity and Streamer.

I was thinking of getting a new account with a different name, but who cares.. hah.. plus its about a good 30 of us that are posting often enough to recognize each other by name which is cool and yeah, I'm the Ampeg guy that plays Mesa. :lol:


Well I do still have my old Ampeg stack in my garage... the head is the only thing that works :x other wise it would still be a pretty good amp...
 
I like the Vampyre, but the corvettes are cool as well, the streamers are slowly growing on me, the thumbs are just well executed, so i like them also, the buzzard looks just like the beast that it is, I can't wait for the new nobby, and I'd like to get my hands on a old fortress...

Which one is my favorite? Any bass tat has a "W" on the headstock... :p
 
i just love the company and the craftsmanship is represents. i'll love to preform with anything with a W on the headstock. i wouldnt really care about which model it was

that said i do especially love thumbs and SS1s
 
I love all the models and everything about the company and the customer care of its distributors.

You would think by my signature that my favorite model is the Corvette, but honestly, I actually think the NT Thumb is the quintessential Warwick representative model, and I have my sights set on a CS version... That model is so uniquely Warwick in sound and looks - very sexy shape and size. I really like the offset pickups on the 5-string model, as they really enhance the look and the growl. To me, the Thumb is the pinnacle of bass guitar, period!

The Streamer seems to appear the most in the spotlight with big name players, and I love the tone people like Stu Zender, P-Nut, and Dirk Lance were getting with theirs. Great bass, but it doesn't have the "signature" look because it is based off the Spector, plus a lot of Streamers are made from various types of Maple, whereas another signature of Warwick is the more exotic woods like Bubinga, Ovangkol, and Wenge - commonly favored for Thumb basses.

10 years ago, before I was a Warwick fan, the only model I really was aware of was the Dolphin - it was a unique, boutique "signature" instrument and I thought it was the only model that Warwick made :oops:
The Dolphin is still an amazing instrument, but my tastes have become more "traditional," so the Corvettes are a nice, sleek and sporty, and affordable instrument to start me off, and the Thumb will be my "prize" model once I can afford a CS version. :D

As far as ranking goes for me:

1st = Thumb
2nd = Corvette
3rd = Streamer

But they ALL beat anything by any other company, IMHO!
 
No other bass that I've heard can duplicate the NT5 tone. It really has a signature look and sound. Still wish I had the SS2 to go with it. :wink:

I agree with that. I love the sound that the Thumb BO gives but it makes me appreciate the Thumb NT5 more each time I play it. However, I've got to admit that the more time I spend with the Corvette Std fretless, the more I'm in love with the sound. I like to add a thumb fretless someday.
 
Thumb NT, SS1, SS2 and Corvettes are my favourit Warwicks.

If I had to choose -------> then Thumb NT-6.
 
All the basses Warwick make are beautiful and all sound amazing. The only one i'm not a fan of is the dolphin but thats because its not as circular are curvy as the others.
 
Any Warwick bass is a beautiful piece of "playable art" in my opinion.

Personally I'm a fan of single coil "J" style pickups and the Thumb Bass does it for me. And as someone else mentioned earlier I love the NT or the BO version - they are different animals for sure, but both are very useful.
 
There probably isn't too many guys on here that wouldn't like having a Thumb NT or SS2 around, even if it isn't their primary bass. I wish I could have kept my Thumb, even though it wasn't what I was looking for tone-wise...
 
Obviously,

my favourite model is the Thumb NT. Fabulous sound, most elegant design, wonderful strong dense woods, small body. Can't wish for more. :D
 
most definitely, ssII and the thumb nt are by far my favorites. i can't pick one over the other, they are both so different and exceptional in their own way. both are absolutely amazing!!!
 
I like them all =P.

.....except for maybe the darklord, just too much flat wood on it.
 
Now I'm wondering what makes your guys like the NT Thumbs more than the BO's? For your playing style? A different feel to it? More comfort? Etc?

The main reason I chose the BO over the NT was price... But after really sitting down and comparing them side by side I was EXTREMLY happy with my choice on the BO... To my ears, It has more mid's and pop to the sound... And ALOT of high end. For my style it fits perfect... Can't wait to be able to afford a CS Thumb BO :)
