Fame by Warwick???

I think that this has been already discussed here but here it goes anyway.



The pickups and hardware on this bass are MEC. Is there any connection between Fame and Warwick?

As far as i know "Fame" is a special company-name for some instrument-makers in Poland producing for the Musicstore in Collogne. ( )

I believe it's only been discussed,

because the Fame looks like a Warwick................but I don't recall, and I don't think it's the case, that it's (made) by Warwick. :roll:

These Fame basses are made by Mayones, for Music Store.

I lived in Cologne for a year. Fame do make some very nice basses. Not advertsied on the musicstore online shop, but it is in their catalogue... are the special editions they do. They're seriously nice and I had my heart set on one. Was told last January I'd have to wait about 8 months for them to come in to stock which I was prepared to do. Rang them again 2 weeks ago for an update on when they'd been coming into stock and I was told they'd been discontinued indefinitely.

Oh well I'm just after purchasing a Corvette Proline instead, and at a much nicer price than the Fame.

Yeah I would have actually preferred the Proline in the first place but it was costly. About €1600 brand new from Germany. The Fame bass was also very nice and about €1000. I also kind of liked the way it'd be so unique, there's not many of those Fame basses going around anyway, nevermind the special editions.

Picked up the proline on ebay for $760 though, just waiting arrival now Even found the colour I wanted. Ocean blue oil finish with gold hardware.

My first bass was a Tanglewood Corvette copy, my second was a Rockbass Corvette, so I'm continuing the tradition with the Corvette Proline.

Well, those are made by MEC, which is VERY related to us in many ways, but not owned by us. MEC was founded many years back by Vlado Hansal, who now works at the Warwick factory designing and making MEC products. So I guess you are somewhat right about this.

they pretty much are though (i know not technically). they're based in the warwick factory, the make parts primerily for warwick, its warwick basses that they're known from, and its warwick players that give MEC the most respect probably :wink:
